Katy Christian Ministries Announces Departure of Longtime Executive Director Deysi Crespo
Katy Christian Ministries (KCM), a social service non-profit serving Katy/West Houston, has announced the departure of its longtime Executive Director, Deysi Crespo, effective from Monday, October 28, 2024. Deysi will be finishing up an impressive near-17-year tenure with the organization, a journey that began from her role as a volunteer.
During Deysi’s leadership, KCM has seen substantial growth, expanding five-fold over the past decade. The organization now boasts over 50 employees, operates across four locations, spans four main service lines and 20 sub-service lines, and services 13 zip codes within and around the Katy area.
KCM's roots trace back to the early 1980s, when Katy area churches confronted the challenge of addressing the needs of a rapidly growing population amid an economic downturn. Recognizing the need for a unified effort, nine interdenominational churches incorporated as Katy Christian Ministries on June 25, 1984. From humble beginnings in a church basement food pantry and a thrift store, KCM now operates four locations and has 65 coalition churches, and numerous business and community partners.

In her resignation letter to the Board, Deysi expressed her gratitude and affinity with the organization stating, “My heart will always be with KCM, and I wish continued success. I have enjoyed working with the staff, volunteers and our wonderful community. Thank you for the opportunity you have given me to lead, learn and grow.”
Deysi Crespo, a Master of Social Work graduate, has been dedicated to transforming lives, focusing on alleviating poverty, addressing food insecurity and providing immediate and long-term crisis interventions. Since 2007, she held various roles within KCM and took the responsibility as Executive Director in 2014. Deysi's leadership has seen the organization achieve a 4-Star Rating from Charity Navigator and accolades from GuideStar, Better Business Bureau of Greater-Houston, and the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability.
The Board of Directors extended their gratitude for Deysi's unwavering dedication over her years of service. The community is invited to an open house event on Monday, October 28 at KCM (3506 Porter Road in Katy) between 3 pm and 5 pm to celebrate Deysi's achievements and wish her well on her new journey. The Board of Directors will work closely with Deysi during the transition and are optimistic about the future, intending to continue KCM's growth trajectory and maintain its standing as a rewarding place to work.
