Katy Art School Brings Creative Energy to Cypress with New Location and Summer Camps
Katy Art School, a beloved part of West Houston’s creative community, has officially opened a second location in Cypress, Texas—expanding from its original Katy studio to offer even more young artists a vibrant space to explore their creativity. The new location brings the school’s hallmark blend of certified instruction, hands-on activities, and a nurturing environment to one of Greater Houston’s fastest-growing areas.
A Vision Rooted in Creativity and Community
Founded in 2014 by longtime Katy resident Luralynn Lombardi, Katy Art School has earned a reputation for inspiring confidence, creativity, and artistic growth in children. With a background in the corporate world and a passion for education, Lombardi launched the school to provide a more personal, child-centered approach to art instruction. After a decade of serving the Katy community, she expanded her vision by opening the Cypress location in 2024.
“I started Katy Art School because I wanted kids to have a place where they could express themselves and feel proud of their work,” said Lombardi. “Art isn’t just about learning to draw—it’s about problem-solving, thinking creatively, and building confidence.”
Now Enrolling for Weekly Classes and Summer Art Camps
The Cypress studio is now enrolling students for both weekly art classes and Summer Art Camps, designed specifically for different age levels and skill sets. Each session is led by a Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) Certified Art Teacher and features fun, hands-on projects that introduce kids to real art techniques and art history—all within a creative, supportive environment. With small class sizes and big imagination, students can explore drawing, painting, mixed media, cartoon/anime, digital art, summer camps, and more, discovering the joy of artistic expression as they grow through the world of art.

“There’s something magical about watching a child discover they can create something amazing with their own hands,” Lombardi shared. “Our teachers guide them through that process in a way that’s age-appropriate and confidence-building.”
Affordable, Flexible, and Family-Friendly Options
With summer in full swing, parents looking for enriching and engaging experiences for their children will find plenty to choose from. Camps and classes are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and staff collaborate closely with parents to ensure proper class placement. To accommodate busy families, the school also offers pro-rated tuition and reduced supply fees for mid-session enrollments.
In support of the local education community, Katy Art School Cypress is offering a 10% discount to all Cy-Fair ISD teachers and staff who register in person with a valid district ID. A 15% sibling discount is also available, and there are no registration fees.
A Personal Mission, A Growing Legacy
Lombardi, who raised her family in Katy, is proud to see her vision extend to a new generation of families. Her oldest child is now an aerospace engineer at Blue Origin, while her youngest is pursuing a teaching degree at the University of Houston—proof, she says, of the long-term value of encouraging kids to explore their passions.

“Our goal is to create a place where every child feels seen and encouraged,” she said. “Opening in Cypress allows us to bring that same spirit to another wonderful community.”
