The Cy-Fair Women’s Club continued a decades-long tradition of investing in local students this month, awarding $40,000 in scholarships to 20 graduating seniors from across the Cy-Fair area during a heartfelt ceremony at Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital.

On Thursday, May 7, 2026, the Cy-Fair Women’s Club (CWC) recognized 20 outstanding graduating seniors during its annual scholarship awards ceremony at Memorial Hermann Hospital Cypress, celebrating students whose academic achievement, leadership, volunteerism, and commitment to community service stood out across the Cypress-Fairbanks area.

Each student received a $2,000 scholarship, bringing this year’s total award amount to $40,000. The scholarships are funded through the Cy-Fair Women’s Club’s annual Shop ’til You Drop Marketplace fundraiser, a longtime community tradition held each fall at the Berry Center.

For many families across Cypress, Bridgeland, Cy-Fair, and surrounding neighborhoods, the evening represented more than financial support. It marked a community investing directly into the next generation of healthcare professionals, engineers, scientists, educators, business leaders, and public servants who grew up right here in Cy-Fair.

Founded in 1982, the Cy-Fair Women’s Club has awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships over the years, supporting hundreds of local students as they pursue higher education. The organization’s scholarship program places a strong emphasis not only on academics, but also on volunteerism, leadership, and meaningful community involvement.

“This year’s scholarship recipients reflect the heart of the Cy-Fair community,” organizers shared during the ceremony. “Their commitment to service, leadership, and academic excellence continues the legacy of giving back that defines this area.”

Service and Leadership Remained at the Center

As in previous years, many recipients distinguished themselves through extensive volunteer work and leadership initiatives throughout the Cy-Fair community.

Several students focused on healthcare and mental health advocacy, while others dedicated time to veterans organizations, STEM outreach, church missions, and youth mentoring programs.

Emily Nguyen of Cypress Woods High School shared that volunteering at St. Luke’s Hospital helped solidify her desire to pursue medicine. “It was incredibly inspiring and motivating to meet patients and support healthcare workers,” Nguyen wrote in her scholarship biography. “It solidified my passion for pursuing a career in medicine.”

Ashlyn Passmore reflected on how local volunteer work shaped her perspective on service and leadership.

“I have learned that small acts of service can make significant impacts on the lives of others,” Passmore shared while discussing her work building and delivering beds to children in need through Sleep in Heavenly Peace.

Nisha Raghavan described how music and service became intertwined through her volunteer experiences performing for retirement home residents.

“One of my most meaningful experiences has been participating in Music Therapy Club, where I performed for residents in retirement homes and saw firsthand how music can uplift and connect people,” Raghavan said.

Meanwhile, Seth Reese credited his experience with Houston Municipal Teen Court for inspiring his future legal ambitions.

“Helping teens navigate the legal system solidified my desire to continue working in law,” Reese wrote.

Community Partnerships Continue to Fuel Student Success

Each scholarship recipient also designated a community partner in recognition of businesses and organizations that support the Cy-Fair Women’s Club and its annual fundraising efforts. Community partners this year included organizations such as My Neighborhood News, Memorial Hermann Cypress, Houston Methodist, HCA North Cypress, Apollo Productions, Cypress Lifestyle, ShelfGenie of Greater Houston, and the Cy-Fair Women's Club..

The annual Shop ’til You Drop Marketplace remains the organization’s largest fundraiser and continues to play a major role in funding scholarships for local students. The event has become a staple across the Cypress and West Houston area, drawing thousands of attendees each year while supporting educational opportunities for graduating seniors.

As Cy-Fair continues to grow, local leaders say programs like the Cy-Fair Women’s Club scholarship initiative help strengthen the long-term future of the community by supporting students who already demonstrate a commitment to serving others.

For families throughout Cypress, Bridgeland, Cy-Fair, and surrounding neighborhoods, the scholarship ceremony served as a reminder that the community’s future is already taking shape in classrooms, volunteer projects, hospitals, churches, and student organizations across the district.
