Safety Reminders for Residents
With summer travel still in full swing, the Constable’s Office is reminding residents of two simple but important tools for community safety:
1. See Something, Say Something
Residents who witness suspicious activity are encouraged to immediately report it to law enforcement. Quick reporting helps deputies respond more effectively and maintain the safety of the area. Call 281-463-6666 or file a crime report online at constablepct5.com/online-crime-tips.
2. Vacation Watch Program
Residents leaving town can request extra patrols around their home while away. Deputies will routinely check the property, adding peace of mind while residents are traveling. Visit constablepct5.com/vacation-watch to sign up.
3. Driving While Intoxicated: A Serious Risk in Harris County
Driving under the influence remains a major safety concern, with 49 DWI arrests made in Nottingham Country by Precinct 5 deputies in June alone.
-
Texas DWI Law: It is illegal to drive with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08% or higher (0.04% for commercial drivers and zero tolerance for anyone under 21). A first offense can mean fines up to $2,000, jail time, and a suspended license.
-
Get Home Safely: If you’ve been drinking, don’t drive. Use a rideshare app, taxi, designated driver, or stay where you are until sober.
-
Local Impact: Harris County has one of the highest DWI crash rates in Texas, resulting in hundreds of injuries and fatalities each year—many of them preventable.
