Joe V’s Smart Shop Plans Early 2027 Opening in Humble, Bringing Fresh Food, Low Prices and 200-Plus Jobs
A new grocery option is taking shape in Humble, where Joe V’s Smart Shop plans to open a 57,000-square-foot store in early 2027 near Interstate 69. The H-E-B-owned value grocery concept will bring fresh food, ready-made meals, home delivery and more than 200 jobs to a fast-growing part of North Houston.
The store, located at 19611 US-59, Humble, TX 77338 in a former Conn's HomePlus store, is expected to serve shoppers from Humble as well as nearby communities including New Caney, Kingwood, Spring and other neighborhoods along the Interstate 69 corridor. Construction is already underway.
For families watching grocery costs, the Humble Joe V’s Smart Shop is being designed around affordability without limiting access to fresh products. The store will include produce delivered daily, meats cut in-house, freshly baked breads and tortillas, handmade sushi, household goods, baby essentials and health and personal-care items.
What Shoppers Can Expect at the New Humble Joe V’s Smart Shop
Joe V’s Smart Shop uses a lower-cost operating model to pass savings along to customers, whom the company calls “Smart Shoppers.” Among the value-focused offerings planned for Humble are three pounds of bananas for $1 and eight bakery-made bolillos for $1.
The store will also offer fresh-cut fruit and vegetables, chicken, seafood and an expansive selection of Latino cheeses. Joe V’s Bundle Boxes, starting at $20, will include seasoned meats intended to help families plan several meals throughout the week.
Shoppers looking for faster dinner options will find H-E-B Meal Simple selections, along with a Sushiya department serving sushi made in the store each day. An Asian grill will offer rice bowls, teriyaki and other prepared meals.
The Humble location will also be one of the first Joe V’s Smart Shop stores to serve H-E-B South Flo Pizza. The pizzas will be handcrafted in-house daily and sold as a grab-and-go meal option.
That addition could be especially useful for commuters traveling through Humble and families balancing school, work and evening activities across North Houston.
Home Delivery Will Expand the Store’s Reach Across North Houston
In addition to self-checkout lanes and traditional grocery departments, the Humble Joe V’s Smart Shop will provide home delivery. The service is expected to help the store reach customers beyond the immediate area, including residents who may have transportation challenges, busy schedules or limited time to shop in person.
The location will carry dairy products, frozen foods, cookware, small appliances, seasonal merchandise and toys. Customers will also find nutritional supplements, over-the-counter medications, personal hygiene products and baby supplies.
The store’s combination of grocery basics, prepared foods and household necessities is intended to give area residents a single stop for weekly shopping while maintaining the low-price approach that defines the Joe V’s brand.
More Than 200 Jobs Planned for the Humble Area
The new Joe V’s Smart Shop in Humble is expected to employ more than 200 people, including many workers from the surrounding community. Positions may include store operations, meat and seafood departments, bakery, prepared foods, customer service and leadership roles.
The company says employees, known as Partners, receive training, competitive pay, benefits and opportunities for career and leadership development.
For Humble and neighboring communities, the opening represents more than another grocery store. It will add local jobs near one of the region’s busiest transportation corridors while increasing competition and food-shopping choices for residents across northeastern Harris County and southern Montgomery County.
Job openings are posted through the Joe V’s Smart Shop careers website as positions become available.
Joe V’s Smart Shop Continues Houston-Area Expansion
Joe V’s Smart Shop launched in 2010 and currently operates 14 stores in the Houston and Dallas areas, employing more than 2,700 people. The company is part of the H-E-B family of brands, which also includes Central Market, Mi Tienda and Favor Delivery.
A second newly announced Joe V’s Smart Shop is planned at 1227 W. Orem Drive near Highway 288 and is expected to open in late 2027. The Humble store is scheduled to open first, in early 2027.
H-E-B operates more than 455 stores in Texas and Mexico and employs over 175,000 people. The San Antonio-based retailer has served Texas communities for more than 120 years and reported annual sales exceeding $50 billion.
As Humble, New Caney, Spring and surrounding North Houston communities continue to grow, the new Joe V’s Smart Shop will add another grocery destination centered on fresh food, affordable prices and convenience.
Residents can expect additional information about hiring, store services and an official opening date as construction progresses.
