Jamestown Colony Residents Urged to Vote on Trex Fence Proposal

Jamestown Colony Residents Urged to Vote on Trex Fence Proposal

November 13 2025

Jamestown Colony residents, your vote is needed! The HOA is asking all homeowners to weigh in on the proposed special assessment for a major community improvement: replacing the aging perimeter fence with a durable, low-maintenance 8-foot Trex Composite Fence in Woodland Brown.

This upgrade could be a game-changer for Jamestown, but it can’t move forward without homeowner approval. Now is the time to vote.

Why the Fence Upgrade Matters

The existing wood fencing that surrounds the neighborhood has seen better days—warped boards, fading color, sagging sections, and frequent repairs have become the norm. While wood was once the economical option, it now costs the community an estimated $50,000 every three years just for restaining, and needs replacing every 10 to 12 years.

After months of research, input from residents, and comparisons between materials like wood, vinyl, precast concrete, and brick, the HOA Board recommends upgrading to Trex Composite fencing for its long-term benefits. The proposed Trex fence is:

  • Hurricane-wind resistant
  • Eco-friendly (made from 96% recycled wood and plastic)
  • Backed by a 25-year limited warranty
  • Expected to save over $1.5 million in total costs over 25 years compared to wood

Cost and Funding Plan

The total project is estimated at $1,006,000, but homeowners won’t bear that cost all at once. If approved, the HOA will finance the project over 10 years. After budget adjustments and reserves are applied, the estimated cost to each household is just $12.92 per month.

See It for Yourself

A full sample of the proposed Trex fencing has already been installed at the corner of West Little York and Huffmeister, so residents can view the color, durability, and look in person before voting.
