How to Report a Streetlight Outage

How to Report a Streetlight Outage

November 02 2023

Over the last several weeks, sunset has been creeping up on us sooner and sooner as daylight hours shorten in anticipation of the fall. In the early morning hours on Sunday, November 5, our clocks will roll back an hour when daylight savings comes to an end.

As you spend more time outdoors during evening hours after sundown, you may have more opportunities to notice streetlight outages in your neighborhood. To help keep you and your neighbors safe with ample roadway illumination at night, you are encouraged to report streetlight outages to Centerpoint Energy so that street lamp bulbs can be replaced.

How do I report streetlight outages?

Reporting streetlight outages is very easy. When you find a streetlight that is out, notate the streetlight number shown in a vertical orientation on the side of the streetlight pole, which is typically at or near eye level. Then, go to the Centerpoint website here using your mobile device or desktop and enter that streetlight pole number, followed by a couple of simple questions. Once you submit the work order, it goes directly into Centerpoint’s system for processing. Voila!

Weren’t able to notate the streetlight number? No problem. You can refer to their interactive map to select the pole in question based on its location. If you prefer to speak with a Centerpoint representative on the phone, give them a call at 713-207-2222 or 800-332-7143 to report the streetlight outage.

Thank you for doing your part to help keep your neighborhood safe!
