Houston Methodist Willowbrook Ranks No. 1 Nationally in 2026 Vizient Quality Rankings
For families across Northwest Houston, Willowbrook, Champions, Klein and nearby communities, some of the most important health care decisions happen close to home. This year, Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital received national recognition for the quality and safety of that care, ranking No. 1 among 225 Large, Specialized Complex Care Medical Centers in the 2026 Vizient Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership rankings.
The annual Vizient rankings evaluate hospitals using six areas tied directly to patient care: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient centeredness and variation of care. Houston Methodist Willowbrook was one of eight Houston Methodist acute care hospitals recognized as top performers, while all seven of the system's community hospitals placed among the top 10 in their respective groups.
A national ranking with a local connection
For Houston Methodist Willowbrook, the recognition adds another chapter to a hospital that has steadily grown alongside Northwest Houston. The not-for-profit, faith-based hospital opened in 2000 and now operates 358 beds on a 52-acre campus near State Highway 249 and Willowchase Drive, just north of FM 1960.

That distinction is especially meaningful for residents who may already know Willowbrook as the hospital they pass on Highway 249, where a child was born, a loved one received emergency care or a family member underwent surgery. The campus has expanded into a regional medical hub with inpatient and outpatient care, an emergency department, intensive care, operating rooms, a cardiac catheterization lab, a stroke center and a range of specialty programs.
What Houston Methodist Willowbrook offers
Houston Methodist Willowbrook provides services that include cancer care, heart and vascular care, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics and sports medicine, women's services, emergency care, spine care, imaging, rehabilitation, robotic-assisted surgery, bariatric care and more.
Its Women's & Children's Pavilion includes private labor and delivery suites, a Level III neonatal intensive care unit and breast care services. Elsewhere on the campus, patients can access Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, rehabilitation services, the Houston Methodist Cancer Center at Willowbrook, outpatient surgery, wound care and weight management services.
The hospital has also earned other quality-related distinctions, including Magnet recognition for nursing excellence, stroke-related certifications, cardiac care accreditations and recognition for breast imaging and critical care.
Houston Methodist hospitals perform strongly across the system
Willowbrook's No. 1 ranking came during a strong year for Houston Methodist overall. Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital also ranked No. 1 in its cohort, while Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital ranked No. 3 among 238 Complex Care Medical Centers. Houston Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center ranked No. 3 among 122 Comprehensive Academic Medical Centers for the second consecutive year.

For Northwest Houston residents, the rankings offer another data point when evaluating hospital quality close to home. More than two decades after opening, Houston Methodist Willowbrook continues to serve a growing part of the Houston region while expanding the level of specialty care available without requiring every patient to travel into the Texas Medical Center.
