Houston Methodist Cy-Hoops Invitational Returns to Cypress for 2025 With 24 Elite Teams and Community Spirit
The Houston Methodist Cy-Hoops Invitational returns this December as one of the Houston region’s premier high school basketball tournaments, drawing 24 elite varsity teams—including all 12 Cypress-Fairbanks ISD teams—to compete from December 11–13, 2025.
Hosted across the Berry Center and three CFISD high school campuses, the invitational brings fast-paced hoops action and community connection together under one mission: to fuel opportunity for local students through higher education.
Now in its 16th year, the Cy-Hoops Invitational was first launched in 2009 with the goal of engaging the Cypress-Fairbanks community, promoting the sport of basketball, and raising scholarship funds for deserving CFISD seniors. Since its founding, the tournament has grown into a major annual event, drawing not only local talent but some of the top high school basketball programs from across Texas.
This year’s out-of-district teams include powerhouse programs like Westlake, Dickinson, San Antonio Johnson, Beaumont Westbrook, CE King, and Mansfield Summit, along with schools from Corpus Christi, Frisco, Killeen, and more.
Young athletes in the community are invited to join in on the fun too—any child who wears their team or school jersey will receive free admission and courtside seating at the games.

A Tournament With a Purpose
More than just a weekend of basketball, the Cy-Hoops Invitational supports the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF), a nonprofit that has empowered students in the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District since 1970.
Through this tournament and other fundraising efforts like the annual Salute to the Stars, CFEF raises money to provide college scholarships for graduating seniors and staff development grants across CFISD. As the district continues to grow—serving more than a dozen high schools and tens of thousands of students—the Foundation’s role becomes increasingly vital.
“Our vision is to empower today’s students and tomorrow’s leaders through higher education,” CFEF representatives shared. “The need for scholarships continues to grow as enrollment rises and college costs increase. Every dollar raised helps open doors for our students.”
Backed by Community Support
Houston Methodist is the named partner of the Cy-Hoops Invitational through a multi-year sponsorship agreement, providing support that helps expand the tournament’s reach and impact. Community members, local businesses, and regional organizations also have the opportunity to get involved through a wide range of sponsorships.

Sponsorship levels range from Premier Sponsor ($10,000) with event visibility and marketing opportunities, to local business advertising in the event program for as little as $75. All sponsorships contribute directly to the scholarship fund and offer visibility across CFISD social media, press materials, and the tournament itself.
