 Hope For Three Awarded

May 13 2023

Hope For Three, a local nonprofit organization that advocates for individuals with autism and their families, was awarded "Organization of the Year" by the Texas Crisis Intervention Teams Association (Texas CIT) at its annual conference in April.

Hope For Three was recognized for its outstanding contributions to crisis intervention training (CIT). In addition to providing CIT training to law enforcement officers across the state, Hope For Three donated 170 sensory kits and training to every Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office patrolman. These Officer Kits provide law enforcement with sensory tools to help de-escalate situations involving individuals with autism or other sensory needs.

"We are honored to be recognized by the Texas CIT for our work in crisis intervention training," said Darla Farmer, CEO of Hope For Three. "Everyone deserves to feel safe and supported, regardless of their mental health or developmental needs. By providing CIT training and sensory kits to law enforcement officers, we are helping to make our communities safer for everyone."

The Texas CIT Association is a nonprofit organization providing training, support, and education to law enforcement officers, corrections staff, mental health professionals, and advocacy groups on how to respond to individuals with mental illness or those experiencing a mental health crisis.

"Since 2014, Hope For Three has served as a valuable partner to improve how law enforcement responds to individuals with autism and mental illness," said Lt. Scott Soland, Texas CIT President." Their training and resources have made a real difference in the lives of our officers and the people we serve."

Founded in 2011, Hope For Three provides resources to anyone, regardless of location, and financial aid to qualified Fort Bend County residents with loved ones with autism. For more information or autism resources, visit www.hopeforthree.org
