Hearthstone’s First Chili Cook-Off and Hero Appreciation Day Brings the Heat and Heart
What do you get when you mix a little neighborhood spirit, a lot of chili, and a deep appreciation for local heroes? Hearthstone’s first-ever Chili Cook-Off and Hero Appreciation Day, a brand-new tradition that kicked off with heart, heat, and hometown pride.
Hosted by the Hearthstone Homeowners Association, the community event took place at the Park Pavilion on a crisp January afternoon, bringing out families, friends, and neighbors in full force. From bowls brimming with bold flavors to laughter-filled conversations with local law enforcement, the day was a joyful celebration of both culinary creativity and community connection.
“What an incredible turnout for our first inaugural chili cook-off and hero appreciation day!” said HOA board member Amber Stoltz. “Our community really showed up and it was amazing to see so many families and friends enjoying the afternoon!”
As neighbors arrived, they were greeted with the savory scent of homemade chili and the warm smiles of Hearthstone residents competing in the cook-off. The event welcomed everyone—from seasoned spice veterans to first-time chili challengers—and the results were nothing short of delicious.

Each team brought something unique to the table—literally. Whether it was fiery spice, sweet heat, or hearty homestyle flavor, the community taste-testers had a tough job picking favorites.
“A special shout-out to our AMAZING chili cookers,” Stoltz added. “You brought the heat, creativity and all the flavor! Your hard work and delicious chili made the event unforgettable.”
Alongside the friendly food competition, the event also served as a heartfelt thank-you to the real heroes of the neighborhood. Officers from Harris County Constable Precinct 5, who regularly patrol the Hearthstone community, spent the afternoon mingling with residents, answering questions, and enjoying the festivities.
“Their presence, conversations and willingness to engage with the community added so much to the day,” Stoltz said in appreciation of the officers.

Although the community missed the anticipated visit from the Cy-Fair Fire Department—who were called away to a serious fire on Eldridge in the reservoir area—organizers are hopeful for their participation next year. “We will try again next year!” Stoltz shared.
This event marks the beginning of what residents hope will become a cherished annual tradition in Hearthstone, blending food, fun, and gratitude into one unforgettable neighborhood experience.
“Here’s to more events that bring us together and celebrate the spirit of our wonderful neighborhood,” Stoltz concluded.
