Harvest Bend News from the Board - August 2023

August 15 2023

CONSTABLE REPORT
In spite of the extreme heat our incidents in Harvest Bend Section 1 remain low. So stay calm cool and collected. The heat can’t last forever. Thanks to the hard work done by the constables who patrol our community !

SAVE THE DATE!!
Our annual FALL FESTIVAL is scheduled for Saturday, November 4, 2023 for 12:00-4:00 pm. As always it will be on the grounds of the club house and is open to all residents. It is always a great event with lots of fun and food. So mark your calendar!

SHREDDING EVENT
The Board is currently working on a shredding event for the neighborhood. We are hoping to get a shredding company to bring a mobile unit to the club house parking lot. Residents could bring their identity sensitive paper and/ or electronic stuff for shredding. More information next month.

DONATE PLASTIC GROCERY BAGS FOR REPURPOSE
Did you know that the plastic grocery bags that are used in many stores cannot be recycled? Unfortunately it is true. There is a group in the area that collects the bags and they get turned into mattresses for the house less. The Red Hat group in our neighborhood collects them locally. You can drop them off at the clubhouse when the pool is open - just place them in the corner by the door.

YARD OF THE MONTH!
We are reviving the Yard of the month for the neighborhood.  We haven’t worked out some of the details yet but we wanted everyone to have plenty of time to work on those landscapes!  It will run from May – October  and will begin in May of 2024. The terrible excessive heat has made it a challenge  just to keep things alive much less ready for competition. So start planning, make a  list and get those flower beds prepped and ready to go for next spring!

SHOUT OUT
A big shout out to the owners of the house at 10306 Golden Sunshine. This house’s exterior was completely renovated a while back and it still looks brand new.  Great job!!!

NEIGHBORHOOD CONCERNS
At the last board meeting several residents had some concerns with things they had seen around the neighborhood.  Not all of the things that were mentioned are contained in the guidelines but some are and  could be cited to the homeowner as a deed restriction violation. The concerns were as follows

18 WHEELERS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY
This is not permitted per the deed restrictions.

SIGNS PLACED AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD
There isn’t a problem with putting the signs up. It’s the taking them down that’s a problem. When you have an event or a lost animal and you post a sign on the pole of a stop sign or on a stick in the ground just make sure you remove it when the event is over or the animal is found.

WALKING DOGS
It is good for the owner and dog to get some exercise!  Unfortunately the dogs may occasionally be unable to “hold it” until they get home. Make sure you take some poop bags with you.

DEAD TREES ON YOUR PROPERTY
This is a deed restriction violation if you fail to remove the dead tree within a reasonable amount of time. This also applies to trees with dead limbs. The dead limbs need to be removed.

TRASH PICK UP
As most of you know trash is picked up on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Recycle is only picked up on Saturdays. There have been some instances where plastic garbage bags were placed at the curb and critters got into it and made a mess. One suggestion would be to set the garbage out the morning of pick up not the night before. Most of the potential  garbage thieves are nocturnal.   Another suggestion is to make sure the top of the bag is tightly closed.  If they can’t smell it they probably won’t mess with it.

We welcome concerns from our residents about neighborhood, home and yard maintenance issues.  Everyone is encouraged to come to the monthly board meetings every second Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm in the club house.
