Harris County Sheriff's Office Launches National Police Week Coloring Contest for Kids
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Police Athletic Activities League (PAL) has launched the National Police Week Coloring Contest for children aged between 8-11. This initiative offers young artists a platform to express their creativity and get involved in commemorating the National Police Week held every May.
National Police Week is a crucial fixture on national calendars. As we honor the brave and dedicated law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, we use this occasion to pay tribute to their tireless service. Recognized since 1962, when former President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day, this week is dedicated to paying homage to the selfless service of these officers.
This year, the commemoration includes live, in-person events, including the 36th Annual Candlelight Vigil by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, which will pay tribute to the heroes recently added to the Memorial located in Washington, D.C.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office PAL's coloring contest allows kids to engage with this significant event in a fun and creative way. Participants are asked to choose one of the available coloring pages and bring it to life with their unique flair and imagination.
Upon completion, submissions should be emailed to communityengagementdiv@sheriff.hctx.net, including the child’s age, name, and contact number. Each child is permitted to submit one color page entry.
Five fortunate winners will have the unique privilege of dining with a PAL Deputy at Raising Cane’s. The lunch event, to be held in June, promises to be a memorable experience for the winners. Further details will be directly conveyed to the winners.
The contest gives children an engaging way to partake in the National Police Week's spirit. Let's honor our law enforcement together while showcasing our gratitude and artistic talents.
