Harris County Fair and Rodeo Opens Applications for College Scholarships

March 11 2024

The Harris County Fair and Rodeo, an institution with a rich history, is excited to announce that it is now accepting applications for its unique scholarship opportunities for the 2024-25 academic year. This is a remarkable chance for FFA or 4-H members to secure financial aid for their post-secondary education, proving that the Harris County Fair and Rodeo is more than just a fair; it’s an organization dedicated to educational growth and the success of its members.

The Harris County Fair and Rodeo has been a pillar of the community for decades, showcasing livestock, creative arts, horticulture and judging contests. The event is run by a dedicated team who believe in supporting and promoting youth education and community involvement. This mission is evident through the organization's scholarship programs, which have been designed to support graduating high school seniors associated with the Harris County Fair and Rodeo.

Under the scholarship program, eligible applicants must be FFA or 4-H members and must have been exhibitors at the Harris County Fair and Rodeo for the last two years, excluding the year 2022 for seniors. Applicants are also expected to complete an interview process with selected representatives, submit an application by the posted deadline, and provide a letter of recommendation from their high school or a community leader.

The scholarship isn't a one-off offering; it can be used over three semesters, helping to sustain students through a significant part of their college journey. However, to maintain the scholarship, students are expected to hold a GPA of 2.75 or higher and take a minimum course load of 10 hours each semester.

The Harris County Fair and Rodeo, through these scholarships, seeks to make a durable impact on the lives of its recipients, ensuring they have the resources they need to succeed in their educational pursuits. By providing such opportunities, it continues to fulfill its mission of strengthening the community and supporting its youth. Applications are due by 11:55 pm on April 5, 2024.
