Harris County Constable Precinct 1 Deputies Will Trade Badges for Aprons at Cy-Fair Texas Roadhouse to Support Special Olympics Texas
On July 25, 2024, deputies from Harris County Constable Precinct 1 are set to trade their badges for aprons in support of a noble cause. Officers will step into an unusual role as they participate in the "Tip A Cop" event at the Texas Roadhouse located at 13345 FM 1960 Road West Houston, TX 77065. This event, scheduled to run from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, is part of a statewide initiative happening at Texas Roadhouse locations across the Greater Houston Area and the state.
Constables will be working diligently, not only to serve hot rolls and generously-portioned entrees to patrons, but also to collect donations for Special Olympics Texas — a year-round movement that provides sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. At this particular event, the goal is to raise $5,000 for the cause.

Originating in 1981 courtesy of Wichita, Kansas Police Chief Richard LaMunyon, the Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics has bloomed into the organization's largest grassroots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle on a global scale. In this awe-inspiring event, law enforcement officers from around the world carry the symbolic "Flame of Hope" through the streets of their communities and deliver it to their local, state, national, or world Special Olympics Games.
Contributions towards this cause will directly support athletes in the Houston community as they train and compete. Those unable to attend "Tip A Cop" can still extend their support by making an online donation here. Whether dining to donate or offering support online, every contribution will make a difference in the lives of Special Olympics Texas athletes.
