GFL Services: A Comprehensive Guide to Waste Services in Bear Creek
GFL is the designated trash provider for your community, and all service and billing inquiries should be directed to their customer service at 281-368-8397 or gflcshouston@gflenv.com. Sticker Program and InvoicesGFL operates a sticker program, requiring residents to have the correct colored sticker for their trash and recycling polycarts. The current sticker quarter runs from November through January, and the polycarts are black this time. Upcoming quarter invoices will be sent out in January 2025. Annual CPI-U AdjustmentThe contract with GFL allows for an annual Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) rate adjustment of up to 5%. Based on a 3.75% national increase in June 2024, a rate adjustment will be reflected in the October 2024 GFL invoice. Trash Pickup ScheduleNormal trash pickup occurs on Tuesdays for household waste, heavy trash, and recycling, and on Fridays for household waste and heavy trash. Residents must place their polycarts at the curb facing the street by 7 am on service days. Polycart Storage and PlacementOn non-pickup days, polycarts must be stored out of public view, such as in a garage, backyard, or behind an approved structure. A 30-day grace period is allowed into the new quarter. Bulk Service RestrictionsCertain items are not acceptable for normal bulk service, including construction debris, sheetrock, insulation, concrete, metal items, dirt, fence sections, propane tanks, tires, and stone or tile. Recycling GuidelinesRecycling materials should be rinsed, dry, and loose in the smaller recycle polycart. Do not bag these items, and refrain from recycling glass or pizza boxes. Heavy Trash and Yard Waste LimitsHeavy trash is limited to two items per service day, along with at least three yard bags. Depending on neighborhood yard waste volume, GFL may limit the number of yard bags picked up. It is advised to place as many yard waste bags as possible in the larger polycart, and smaller trees and bushes should be bundled in four-foot lengths for pickup. By adhering to these guidelines, residents can ensure efficient and effective trash and recycling services from GFL. |
