Fulshear Simonton Fire Department Brings Firehouse Storybook Tour to Local Families This Summer

July 09 2026

For families in Fulshear, Simonton and nearby Fort Bend County communities, the local fire department is showing that public safety begins long before an emergency call.

The Fulshear Simonton Fire Department – ESD 4 is continuing its summer Firehouse Storybook Tour, a family-friendly outreach series that brings firefighters, children’s stories and firetruck tours into familiar local gathering places. The program gives children a chance to meet first responders in a calm, welcoming setting while helping parents and residents build a stronger connection with the people who serve their community every day.

The department’s third stop took place at Molina’s Cantina, where families joined the crew for story time and a close-up look at a firetruck. The event drew what the department described as a great turnout, with firefighters thanking residents for coming out and participating.

Two More Firehouse Storybook Tour Stops Planned

Families still have two more chances to take part in this summer’s Firehouse Storybook Tour.

The next stop is scheduled for July 14 at Roper’s Cafe in Simonton at 11 a.m. The final scheduled stop will be held July 28 at Pier 36 in downtown Fulshear at 11 a.m.

For parents searching for free family activities in Fulshear, summer events in Simonton, kids’ firetruck tours near Fort Bend County, or community safety events in Fulshear and Simonton, the Firehouse Storybook Tour offers a simple but meaningful way to spend time together close to home.

More Than Emergency Response

Serving the growing communities of Fulshear, Simonton and surrounding areas, the Fulshear Simonton Fire Department is dedicated to protecting lives and property through rapid response, professional training and community engagement.

The department’s team includes highly skilled firefighters, EMTs and support staff who work around the clock to support the safety and well-being of residents. While emergency response remains at the center of the department’s mission, its public outreach efforts show another side of fire service: education, trust-building and prevention.

The department describes its role as more than responding to fires, rescues and medical emergencies. Its firefighters also serve as neighbors, educators and safety advocates throughout the community.

That work includes guided station tours, interactive school visits, block party appearances and public safety presentations designed for groups of different ages and backgrounds. While the department does not host or attend birthday parties, it does provide a range of educational and community-focused opportunities that promote fire safety, emergency preparedness and awareness.

Why Local Outreach Matters in a Growing Area

As Fulshear, Simonton and western Fort Bend County continue to grow, community connections with emergency responders become even more important. Programs like the Firehouse Storybook Tour help children become familiar with firefighters and emergency vehicles before a crisis occurs, while giving parents a chance to ask questions and see the department’s outreach work up close.

For young children, seeing a firefighter in gear or climbing around a firetruck can turn something that might feel intimidating into something familiar. For families, it is also a reminder that local fire departments are part of the neighborhood fabric, not just the people who arrive when something goes wrong.

That kind of early connection can make a difference. Fire safety education, public preparedness and community trust all help strengthen the relationship between residents and first responders.

ESD No. 4 Supports Fire Protection and Community Safety

Emergency Services District No. 4, also known as ESD No. 4, plays a key role in supporting the Fulshear Simonton Fire Department’s operations. The district provides essential funding, resources and oversight that help the department deliver high-quality emergency services across its service area.

That support covers a broad mission, including fire suppression, rescue operations, emergency response, community education and preparedness programs. ESD No. 4 is also committed to transparency and accountability as it works to meet the safety needs of Fort Bend County residents.

Regular ESD No. 4 board meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 8 a.m. at 33301 F.M. 1093, Fulshear, Texas 77441. The meetings are open to the public and give residents an opportunity to stay informed about the district’s ongoing work.

What Families Should Know

Residents planning to attend one of the remaining Firehouse Storybook Tour stops can expect a relaxed, kid-friendly experience with stories, firefighters and a firetruck tour. The events also offer a chance for families to connect with the department outside of an emergency setting and learn more about the people serving Fulshear, Simonton and nearby communities.

The upcoming dates are easy to remember, with both beginning at 11 a.m.:

  • July 14 at Roper’s Cafe in Simonton
  • July 28 at Pier 36 in downtown Fulshear

For local families looking for a meaningful summer outing, the Firehouse Storybook Tour is part story time, part safety education and part neighborhood connection — a reminder that community protection is built not only through emergency response, but through everyday relationships.
