Fulshear Adopts New School Zone Parking Rules to Boost Safety Near Schools
Residents of Cross Creek Ranch and the greater Fulshear area will see new parking rules around local schools this fall, following a City Council vote this week. The City of Fulshear announced today that the ordinance is part of a broader initiative to reduce congestion, improve visibility, and enhance safety for children, families, and drivers during the most hectic parts of the school day.
Under the new rules, drivers will not be permitted to stop, stand, or park on any street within approximately 0.25 miles of a school during designated pickup and drop-off times on school days—unless they are parked directly in front of their own home. This applies to both residential and nonresidential streets near schools.

The city says signage will be installed at neighborhood entrances to alert drivers to the restricted zones. According to officials, these changes are intended to help traffic flow more smoothly and reduce the risk of accidents in busy school areas.
Residents and their guests will still be allowed to park in front of their homes, and the city has published both East and West overview maps highlighting the impacted zones. More detailed maps for each school are available on the City of Fulshear’s website at fulsheartexas.gov.
City leaders are urging residents to plan ahead for the upcoming school year and adjust routines accordingly. The announcement also included a message of appreciation: “Thank you for helping us keep school zones safe for our kids, and please remain patient as we prepare for the upcoming school year.”

For Cross Creek Ranch families, these changes could mean adjusting where guests park during morning drop-off or afternoon pick-up windows, especially in areas close to James Randolph Elementary, Leaman Junior High, and Fulshear High School. The city encourages all residents to review the maps and know their school zone boundaries before the first bell rings.
This ordinance aligns with a growing national focus on school zone safety and follows similar policies adopted in other fast-growing Texas cities. By tightening parking restrictions, city officials hope to eliminate the bottlenecks and blind spots that can occur when cars line the streets near campuses.
