The My Neighborhood News Live Music Fix series is brought to you in part by Joyce Skala of Cypress Music Scene (CMS), and spotlights local bands and venues in Cypress. CMS is a dynamic Facebook page that brings local musicians together to share information about their upcoming gigs, collaborate and support one another. In addition to being a vital connector in the vibrant music scene in Cypress, Joyce is also the lead singer of HURRY SUNDOWN in Cypress.
The Greater Houston Area is renowned for its vibrant live music scene. From intimate venues to grand stages, musicians of all genres, both local and international, bring music to life in Downtown Houston and suburbs like Cypress. Cypress itself has a thriving live music scene with top-notch venues showcasing local talents. Whether you're seeking a relaxed atmosphere or high-quality live music, Cypress offers plenty of options to satisfy your musical cravings.

Scream Therapy is an all-original, in-your-face old school hard rock band featuring Paul Lidel,
a long time member of two popular bands Dangerous Toys (Columbia Records) & Dirty Looks (Atlantic Records). The two bands combined have well over 7 million streams on spotify.
Mike Gilbert predominantly plays 90s Country, with a splash of Texas Country and Jim Croce. He is also part of the three-man band, Father Figures.
Formed in 2011 to raise awareness for local and national charities,
Righteous Cause plays rock, classic rock from the 60s, 70s and 80s, and some country.
With a guitar in hand since the tender age of eight,
Mark Childres has artfully mastered genres that span across Country, Classic Rock, and nostalgic ballads accumulated over the decades, all with the authentic touch of acoustic strings.
Matthew Austin Hunt, influenced by his grandfather's love for music and a wide range of artists, combines Americana, Country, and Rock styles in his recently released album "TWO". He performs solo, duo, and with a full band across the Houston area and beyond.

Alejandro Miramontes specializes in jazz, pop, and rock genres. Currently based in Nashville, Alejandro continues to captivate audiences with his unique musical style.

Mike Amabile offers a unique blend of Americana, Southern Rock, Folk, Country, and Roots Blues, accompanied by poetic lyrics. His diverse influences range from Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers to Led Zeppelin and Johnny Cash.
Nate Gordon is a retired Associate Director of Athletics with Cy-Fair ISD and regularly plays at venues across the Cypress area.

Pete Skafidi plays over 25 shows a month in Houston, offering a lively blend of cover songs from various genres, including Rock/Pop, R&B, Latin, and Country, along with original compositions.
Award-winning vocalist
Lisa Whitley has been described as a “Dynamic Song Stylist” over the last 20 years. She has performed for thousands singing a wide array of styles that span from the 1940’s to the popular tunes of today.
The Spicolis, one of the hottest variety/cover bands in Houston since 2008, is an 80s MTV tribute band delivering an energetic show that keeps the dance floor hopping all night.
Up and coming singer/songwriter
Brian Thomas is an official Cypress Music Scene member and plays at many Cypress area venues regularly.
