Free Prom Dress & Formal Exchange at Barbara Bush Branch Library in Spring: How to Donate or Shop March 4–7, 2026
For many high school students in Spring and Klein ISD, prom is more than a dance — it’s a milestone. But with rising costs for dresses, suits, shoes, and accessories, the price tag can quickly become overwhelming for families.
That’s why the upcoming Prom Dress Formal Exchange at the Barbara Bush Branch Library is more than just a donation drive — it’s a community effort to make prom accessible and affordable for local teens in Spring, TX and surrounding neighborhoods.
Hosted at Barbara Bush Branch Library, 6817 Cypresswood Drive, Spring, TX 77379, the event gives residents a simple way to support students while keeping gently used formalwear in circulation.

Why This Matters for Spring Families
The average cost of prom attire can easily climb into the hundreds of dollars when factoring in clothing, shoes, alterations, and accessories. For many households in Spring and nearby communities like Klein and Cypresswood, that expense competes with everyday priorities such as groceries, utilities, and school fees.
By hosting the Prom Dress Formal Exchange, the Barbara Bush Branch Library is helping:
- Reduce financial pressure on families
- Ensure all students can participate in prom
- Promote sustainability through clothing reuse
- Strengthen community connections
It’s a reminder that libraries are more than places to check out books — they are gathering spaces where neighbors support one another.
What Happens Next
Donations collected on March 4 and 5 will be organized and made available for students during the March 6 and 7 shopping days. Residents who wish to participate can simply show up during the designated hours — no complicated process required.
As prom approaches, small gestures — a donated gown, a pair of dress shoes, a gently worn sport coat — can make a lasting difference in a teenager’s high school experience.
