Free Income-Tax Help Available at Fort Bend County Libraries for Tax Season
Fort Bend County Libraries will once again partner with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) to provide free income-tax preparation assistance for low-income taxpayers. This vital service will be available at several library locations across Fort Bend County from February 1 through April 15, 2025, coinciding with the tax filing deadline.
The program aims to make tax help accessible to individuals and families who may need additional support, ensuring everyone has an opportunity to file their 2024 taxes accurately and on time.
Locations, Dates, and Appointment Information
Income-tax assistance will be available at the following library branches. Appointments are required for all sessions, and taxpayers are encouraged to reserve their spots early:

What to Bring to Your Appointment
Taxpayers should come prepared with the following documents:
- A valid photo ID
- Social Security cards for all individuals listed on the return
- Last year’s tax return
- W-2, 1099 forms, and any other income-related documents for 2024
- Statements for unemployment compensation, if applicable
- Any other relevant tax documents
Accessing Tax Forms and Additional Resources
While income-tax forms will not be provided, taxpayers can use library computers to download and print the necessary documents from the IRS website at irs.gov. Printing costs are 10 cents per black-and-white page, and a free library card is required to use library printers.

This initiative reflects a shared commitment to accessibility and support for Fort Bend County residents during tax season. “These sessions help individuals navigate the often-complicated process of filing taxes,” said a library representative. “Our goal is to make sure everyone has the resources they need to meet the tax deadline.”
