For many Fort Bend County nonprofits, the Sugar Plum Market isn't just one of the area's signature holiday shopping events—it's a vital source of funding that helps turn community needs into meaningful action.

The Fort Bend Junior Service League (FBJSL) has officially opened Event Beneficiary Applications for the 2026 Sugar Plum Market, inviting eligible nonprofit organizations serving Fort Bend County to apply for grant funding that supports programs, services and initiatives throughout the community.

Since its founding in 2001, FBJSL has become one of Fort Bend County's most impactful volunteer organizations, combining thousands of volunteer hours with successful fundraising events to strengthen local nonprofits. Through the Sugar Plum Market and other fundraising efforts, the organization has invested more than $6.4 million into over 100 Fort Bend County nonprofit organizations during the past 25 years, helping support families, children, seniors, education, health care, food assistance and numerous other community needs.

Sugar Plum Market Continues a Tradition of Giving Back

Each year, proceeds generated by the Sugar Plum Market are returned directly to Fort Bend County through grants awarded to nonprofit organizations making a measurable difference in residents' lives.

Organizations interested in receiving funding during the 2026 cycle can now access the updated Event Beneficiary Application on the Fort Bend Junior Service League website. League leaders encourage applicants to carefully review the revised guidelines, eligibility requirements and application materials before submitting their requests.

The annual funding opportunity has become an important resource for local nonprofits seeking financial support for programs that improve quality of life across Fort Bend County.

Community Support Extends Beyond Sugar Plum Market

While the Sugar Plum Market represents FBJSL's largest annual grant program, the organization's support for local nonprofits continues throughout the year.

Through its Community Assistance Fund (CAF), the League provides grants of up to $5,000 to help organizations address urgent needs, launch pilot programs or respond to unexpected expenses that arise outside the annual grant cycle.

That ongoing commitment was evident this past May, when FBJSL awarded four Community Assistance Fund grants to organizations serving Fort Bend County residents:

  • iCurea Foundation received $1,000 to purchase diapers and baby wipes.
  • Rosenberg-Richmond Helping Hands received $3,500 to provide socks and underwear for families experiencing financial hardship.
  • Family Roots for Life received $3,500 to support life skills classes and provide apartment and dormitory gift baskets.
  • Clothed by Faith received $5,000 to purchase new shoes for individuals in need.

These smaller, responsive grants allow the League to meet emerging community needs throughout the year while complementing the larger annual Sugar Plum Market beneficiary awards.

"The Fort Bend Junior Service League is honored to continue supporting organizations that work tirelessly to meet the needs of our community," said Misty Gasiorowski, 2025-2026 Co-Chair of the Beneficiary Review Committee. "We encourage eligible nonprofits to apply and share how these funds could help further their mission and impact."

Powered by Volunteers, Focused on Fort Bend County

The Fort Bend Junior Service League is an organization of women dedicated to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving Fort Bend County through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Beyond fundraising, League members contribute countless volunteer hours each year while fostering leadership development, charitable service and community collaboration.

The Sugar Plum Market has become one of the League's most recognizable fundraising events, drawing shoppers from across the Houston region while creating an opportunity for residents to support local businesses and, ultimately, local nonprofit organizations. Every purchase made during the event helps generate funding that stays within Fort Bend County, benefiting organizations working to address some of the community's greatest needs.
