Fort Bend Junior Service League Offers Scholarships to Empower Women Through Education
The Fort Bend Junior Service League (FBJSL), a service-oriented organization of women dedicating themselves to enriching the Fort Bend County community, is now accepting applications for its annual Scholarship Awards. This is a significant opportunity for both young and matured women aspiring for higher education.
Every year, FBJSL disperses $6,000 for funding college scholarships in support of bright, deserving women in the community. Among these, Volunteer Scholarships worth $1,000 each are granted to a maximum of six female high school seniors from Fort Bend County, particularly those who have excellently demonstrated their commitment to volunteerism and community service.
In addition to this, FBJSL also provides a $2,000 New Beginnings Scholarship, specifically designed to assist a woman from Fort Bend County who is in financial need but seeking advancement opportunities for their career. This scholarship is meant for those who are interested in broadening their professional horizons and wish to pursue higher education to obtain their career goals by attending an accredited college, university, or vocational school.
Since its inception in 2001, FBJSL and its members have remained committed to promoting volunteerism, developing women's potential, and playing a vital role in advancing the Fort Bend County community. The organization stands firm on its noble purpose of being exclusively educational and charitable, fostering an atmosphere of friendliness, goodwill, and camaraderie among its members.
FBJSL's significant contributions to the community are not confined to the scholarships alone. Their dynamic fundraisers and events have enabled them to donate an impressive sum of over $5.75 million to non-profit organizations in the Fort Bend community.
The scholarship applications will be accepted until February 1, 2024. For more detailed information and to acquire the application copies, visit the FBJSL website at www.fbjsl.org.
