Fort Bend County to Honor Fallen Officers at Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony on May 6

This Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office will host its annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony, a solemn tradition that honors the brave men who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting the Fort Bend community. The event will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. at the main entrance of the Fort Bend County Jail, located at 1410 Richmond Parkway, Richmond, TX 77469.

Open to the public, this heartfelt ceremony invites residents, families, fellow officers, and community leaders to come together in remembrance of ten fallen officers who lost their lives in the line of duty over the past 180 years.

Honoring Fort Bend’s Fallen Heroes

The Fort Bend County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony serves as a time to reflect on the service, courage, and dedication of those who died while wearing the badge. The ceremony will honor the following officers:

  • Sheriff John V. Morton – February 7, 1843

  • Sheriff T.J. Garvey – August 16, 1889

  • Deputy Henrich W. Hoffman – February 19, 1893

  • Deputy Edmond H. Hardin – September 15, 1927

  • Deputy Frank P. Bell – October 10, 1930

  • Deputy Dominic S. Carso – March 8, 1977

  • Detective Jon A. Farrar – August 5, 1977

  • Deputy Eugene J. Heimann – March 21, 1988

  • Deputy David L. Braunholz – April 9, 1990

  • Deputy John David “JD” Norsworthy Jr. – January 4, 2011

Each name represents a life dedicated to protecting others, and each loss left a lasting impact on the community and the families they served.

A Community United in Remembrance

The Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony in Fort Bend County is more than an event—it is a reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face every day and a chance for the community to show gratitude and respect. The ceremony typically includes remarks from local leaders, moments of silence, and formal honors such as the presentation of colors and a memorial wreath.

For many, it is also a deeply personal moment to remember loved ones and colleagues who are gone but never forgotten.
