Fort Bend County Precinct 1 Shares January 2026 Mobility Project Updates Across Growing Communities

February 02 2026

Residents across Fort Bend County Precinct 1 are seeing steady progress on a wide range of transportation and infrastructure projects, according to the latest updates presented during January 2026 mobility meetings. The updates reflect ongoing efforts to manage growth, improve safety, and reduce congestion in rapidly developing areas stretching from Cinco Ranch and Fulshear to Simonton and beyond .

One of the most closely watched areas remains the Grand Parkway (State Highway 99), where multiple frontage road construction and design projects are advancing. Several segments between Westheimer Parkway, Cinco Ranch Boulevard, FM 1093, and Fry Road are either nearing completion or moving through final design phases. Officials noted that some construction sections are expected to wrap up as early as February, pending final coordination with TxDOT and contractor approvals, while additional widening and bridge projects are scheduled for later letting dates through 2026 and 2027.

Beyond the Grand Parkway, the January updates highlighted significant work tied to the 2023 Mobility Bond, including long-term improvements to Skinner Lane, Pool Hill Road, Hunt Road, and Rogers Road. Many of these projects are currently in preliminary engineering and drainage study phases, a critical step in a county where stormwater management plays a major role in roadway design. Coordination with school districts, drainage districts, and utility providers continues to shape timelines as plans are refined .

Several construction projects are also delivering visible results for residents. The Pecan Creek Road Bridge replacement is now open, with final work expected to conclude by the end of February. Other completed or near-complete efforts include sections of Brandt Road and Stella Road, which are moving toward project closeout after punch-list items were addressed. These projects are designed to improve traffic flow and provide safer, more reliable connections between neighborhoods and commercial corridors .

Sidewalks and traffic signals are another focus area across Precinct 1. County engineers are advancing designs for new sidewalks at multiple locations and moving closer to bidding traffic signal projects at key intersections, including Fulshear Gaston Road and Candela Heights. While some signal projects have generated mixed feedback from nearby residents, county officials emphasized that decisions are guided by traffic warrants and safety data, with flexibility built into future construction plans .

Together, these updates offer a snapshot of how Fort Bend County Precinct 1 is balancing growth with infrastructure planning. While many projects remain in design or coordination stages, the steady movement from studies to construction reflects a long-term approach aimed at supporting mobility, safety, and quality of life for residents throughout the precinct.
