Former Library Transforms into Fulshear Annex, Including Fulshear Community Health Clinic

July 22 2024

Today, the Fort Bend County Health and Human Services (FBCHHS) Community Health Clinic opened its doors at the Fulshear Annex, the former location of the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library. The library, named after Commissioner Bob Lutts, was originally opened in May 1998 and served the community until its doors closed in May 2023 to make way for the new Fulshear Branch Library.

Now, the former library, having been transformed into the Fulshear Annex, stands ready to serve the community in a new capacity. Located at 8100 FM 359 South, Suite 110 in Fulshear, the Fulshear Annex Clinic will be open on Mondays from 10 am to 2 pm to provide adult and childhood vaccinations.

This transformation from library to clinic is part of a larger project that saw the former Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton library becoming the Fulshear Annex, which houses the health clinic and a 10,400 square foot Justice of the Peace Courthouse. The renovation project began in September 2023 and was originally slated for completion in March 2024, with the cost to taxpayers at $2,250,000, according to the bid package issued by Fort Bend County.

The clinic, as part of its services, offers all Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) and Adult Safety Net (ASN) vaccines. It caters to uninsured and underinsured students who meet the TVFC or ASN eligibility. TVFC eligibility covers children 18 years and younger who are uninsured, on Medicaid, underinsured, or of Native American or Native Alaskan heritage. ASN eligibility, on the other hand, covers individuals aged 19 years and older with no health insurance. In addition, for those who fall under these categories, vaccines may be received with only a minimal administration fee.

It's important to note that only vaccination services will be provided at the Fulshear Annex Clinic. For testing services, members of the community are advised to visit the Rosenberg or Missouri City Annex community health clinics. As always, an ID is required for services, and a parent or guardian must be present for those aged 17 and under. A paper copy of shot records is also required.
