Fireworks With a Purpose: American Legion Post 164 Katy to Sell Fireworks for Fourth of July
The Fourth of July would not be complete without fireworks. They are a patriotic symbol of American pride that have lit the night sky across the U.S. every Fourth of July since the first Independence Day celebration in 1777. As a patriotic holiday, celebrating this commemorative anniversary also gives Americans the opportunity to show gratitude and appreciation for the brave men and women who have selflessly served our country so that we may enjoy the freedoms we have today.
This year, Katy area residents can once again support local veterans and youth by purchasing their supply of fireworks from the American Legion Post 164 Katy. As the nation's largest wartime veterans service organization, the American Legion is committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans. Jonathan D. Rozier, the veteran for whom the American Legion Post 164 Katy is named, is conducting the effort along with the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 164, the Sons of the American Legion Squadron 164, and Legion Rider of Post 164.
Now in its third year, the sale will take place in a free-standing building at the American Legion Post 164 Katy, which is located at 22125 Kingsland Boulevard, Katy, TX 77450. Fireworks will be available for sale from June 24 through July 4. The fireworks stand will be manned entirely by members of the American Legion Post 164, members of the Post Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion, and Legion Riders group, along with older youth from the Scouts sponsored by the American Legion Post 164 Katy, and youth from past and current state programs.
