CHRISTMAS AT THE GAZEBO

Thank you to all the Southcreek and Southdown residents that donated Toys for Tots on December 11th at our Christmas at the Gazebo event. The event was a lot of fun and a huge success with all the toys donated.

Congratulations to Toy Drive drawing winners: Caleb Rogers and Stephanie Baker who both won the beautiful Christmas cookie gift boxes donated by Susan McLeroy at Gary Greene Realtors.

Residents got to visit with Santa, ride the mechanical reindeer, race down the holiday slide, enjoy popcorn, hot chocolate and hear wonderful holiday music from an awesome DJ and Lowery Elementary Choir. Santa handed out bags with candy canes, coloring books and crayons to all the children that visited him. There was face painting, temporary tattoos, crafts and refreshments. Everyone enjoyed making photo frame magnets, coloring in the stained-glass sidewalk designs and making reindeer food.

This event could not have been possible without the help of all the volunteers in Southcreek Village and Southdown Village. Thank you to:
  • Santiago Soliz for chairing the event, organizing Toys for Tots and sharing his amazing Santa talents
  • Susan McLeroy and Judith Carey for co-chairing and volunteering at the event
  • Cindy Truitt & Charolotte LeMeir for decorating the Gazebo
  • Debbie Bullock for sharing her amazing face painting talents
  • Davis & Quintene Parker for setting up, cleaning up and organizing the reindeer food station
  • Carmen Reyes, Lorri Thompson and their families for setting up, cleaning up and organizing the Hot Chocolate Station
  • Dennis Zehler, Dave & Charolette LeMier for organizing & providing freshly popped popcorn for everyone
  • Russ Moncrief and his family for setting up, cleaning up and organizing the staining glass sidewalk chalk activity
  • Matt Elixson for sharing his amazing DJ talents
  • Lowery Elementary Choir for providing us with lovely music.
  • And LCHS NHS volunteers for helping us run the craft and activity stations

Thank you also to Willie’s Grill & Icehouse for donating Ice and Susan McLeroy with Gary Greene Realtors for donating Cookies for the event.

2022 ANNUAL HOA ASSESSMENTS DUE

The 2022 HOA Assessment is due. If you have not paid your assessment, please do so. This will prevent a late charge from occurring. If you have any questions on your account, you may contact Shannon Albernaty at PMG. You may contact her at s.abernathy@pmghouston.com.

BLOCK CAPTAINS

Do you want to know what’s going on in your neighborhood? BE A BLOCK CAPTAIN!

Block captains receive emails for the Block Captain Chairman, Bryne Liner. The emails let you know what’s going on in our neighborhood.

We ask that once the Block captains receive an email, they pass the information on to the other neighbors on their street.

Being a Block captain requires a relatively small amount of time, but the block captain plays a very important role in our community.

If you would like information about who your block captain is or would like to be a block captain, you can contact Bryne Liner at bryneliner@gmail.com.

KEEPING OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SAFE!!

You may wonder what you can do to help keep our neighborhoods safe. Here is some helpful information on reducing crime in our community:
  1. Know your neighbors. Do they work full time? Know what cars should be in the driveway. If something is different, report it to the non-emergency number (713-221-6000).
  2. Be a Block Captain. Our Block captains are the Key Communicator of Important Events in the Community and any Crime Activity in our neighborhood. If you don’t have a Block captain on your street, please consider volunteering to be the Block Captain for your street.
  3. Lock your vehicle when it’s on the street or in your driveway.
  4. Don’t keep valuables in your car. This includes cell phones, GPS systems, IPODS, etc. A burglar can smash the window and steal the contents of your car in less than 45 seconds.
  5. Keep the non-emergency number posted in your home. Don’t hesitate to report suspicious activity to the non-emergency number. (713-221-6000).
  6. To report a crime in progress or another emergency - Call 911!

TIPS FOR WINTERIZING YOUR HOME

Protecting Your Pipes
  • By late October, early November, you should winterize your pipes by draining all water from your irrigation, sprinkler or hose lines.
  • Outdoor faucets should also be protected during the winter months by covering them with socks or taping pieces of cardboard to them so they don’t freeze.
  • Inside your home, you should also ensure that your pipes are also properly insulated and take steps to wrap exposed pipes because those pipes could freeze during the winter months.
Look for Critter Entry Points into Your Home
Want to keep your house from becoming an “Airbnb for critters” during the winter months? If so, you should take the time now to inspect the exterior of your home and look for potential holes or entry points that a critter could use to gain access to your home.

Weatherize Doors and Windows
If it’s been a while since you’ve weatherized your Houston Texas Home, it may be about due for another weatherization again. To do this simply light a candle and hold it next to a door or window inside your home because if you see the flame moving this is a good chance that the seal to the door or window needs to be replaced.

Clean Your Gutters
After weatherizing your home in Houston Texas, you should next take the time to clean out the gutters too because they can become backed up during the year and cause potential damage to your home if rainwater isn’t able to drain properly.

Make Your Home Fall-Proof
Since it’s very easy to slip and fall during the winter (due to heavy rains) you should also focus on making your home fall-proof by doing the following:
  • Install tape strips in your entryway to ensure that anyone entering your home can’t slip on wet or icy concrete.
  • Secure rugs or other carpeting on floors.
  • Add a handrail near our front door to make sure that anyone who enters your home will have something to grab if they fall.
  • Install brighter light bulbs to help people see better inside your home during the winter months. These helpful tips were found on HAR.com.

DEED RESTRICTION LETTERS

Please help maintain Southcreek Village’s property values!

To ensure the aesthetic integrity of Southcreek Village is being maintained, periodic site inspections are performed by PMG each month.

If you happen to receive a deed restriction violation notice, please do not ignore it or disregard it. It is always best to reach out to the management company right away to let them know either that you have taken care of the violation, have plans to do so or are unable to do so right away. Please contact Katherine Follis with PMG at kfollis@pmghouston.com.

This communication is important because subsequent letters from the Association can result in additional costs for the homeowner for certified mail fees and even legal fees if the issue persists with no response.

Copies of Southcreek Village’s governing documents are posted on http://www.Townsq.io and on www.Copperfield.org.

HARRIS COUNTY SHERIFF DEPT.

Report any suspicious activity to the Harris County Sheriff’s non-emergency line at 713-221-6000, option 6. Remember, the patrolling Sheriff’s deputies depend on us as much as we depend on them.

BOARD MEETINGS

Southcreek Board meetings are on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6 PM. Login details will be posted on Town Square the week of the meeting. This is a public forum where you can ask any questions or express any concerns to the Southcreek HOA Board. Attending Board meeting is a great way to know what is going on in our community.
