For Fallbrook Church’s growing Cypress-Katy congregation, a permanent home is beginning to take shape.

A construction filing lists plans for a $16.6 million, two-story Fallbrook Church campus on House Hahl Road in Cypress, marking a significant next step for a congregation that has spent the past several years worshipping in local middle schools while building its presence in the Cypress and Katy communities.

The proposed 66,950-square-foot Fallbrook Church Cypress-Katy Campus would include a multipurpose worship room and education spaces on the first floor, along with unfinished shell space on the second floor that could accommodate future needs. Construction is currently scheduled to begin Jan. 1, 2027, with completion projected for June 1, 2028, according to the filing.

The planned Cypress-Katy campus would join the church’s longtime North Campus at 12512 Walters Road in Houston, while giving the Cypress-Katy congregation its first dedicated building after several years of meeting inside Cy-Fair ISD schools.

For members who have helped establish the Cypress-Katy campus since its 2023 launch, the project would represent more than another building. It would give the church a permanent base for worship, children's and student programming, education and community outreach in one of northwest Harris County's fastest-growing areas.

Fallbrook Church Cypress-Katy Campus Moving Toward a Permanent Home

The construction filing identifies the project site as 0 House Hahl Road, Cypress, TX 77433, indicating an undeveloped property along the House Hahl Road corridor.

Plans call for new construction of a two-story assembly building for religious worship and education. The first level would contain the multipurpose worship space and educational areas, while the second level would initially remain unfinished shell space.

At an estimated construction cost of $16.6 million, the project would be one of the larger new religious facilities currently planned in the Cypress area.

The permanent campus also represents a milestone in Fallbrook Church's expansion beyond its longtime north Houston home at 12512 Walters Road.

From a School-Based Campus to Fallbrook’s Second Permanent Home

Fallbrook Church expanded into the Cypress-Katy area in October 2023, initially opening its second campus inside David Anthony, Ed.D. Middle School at 10215 Greenhouse Road in Cypress. The church says the expansion was intended to extend its worship, ministry and community programs farther into northwest Houston. 

The congregation temporarily moved to Sprague Middle School, 10611 Mason Road, during summer construction work at Anthony Middle School. Fallbrook announced that the Cypress-Katy campus would return to Anthony Middle School beginning Aug. 16, 2026, and said it expects to remain there until the permanent facility is ready. Sunday services are currently scheduled for 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. 

That temporary-school model has allowed the church to establish a congregation in Cypress without waiting for a dedicated building to be completed.

When the Cypress-Katy campus was first announced in 2023, Fallbrook representatives said programming would extend beyond Sunday worship to include ministries for children, youth and students, small-group Bible studies and community support. The campus had also begun working with local schools, including adopting Cypress Springs High School and participating in Cy-Fair ISD's Superintendent's Fun Run.

A Houston Church With More Than Three Decades of History

Fallbrook Church's roots stretch back more than 30 years.

Led by Founding and Senior Pastor Michael A. Pender Sr., the church traces its early beginnings to four families and held its first public service at Gray Elementary School in September 1994. Before establishing a permanent campus, the congregation met in homes, office space and a co-leased church facility.

The church eventually purchased 6.14 acres on Walters Road, where its north Houston campus developed in stages.

Its first building, known as the Auxiliary Building, opened in late 2001. A Community Center followed in August 2004, and on Easter Sunday 2009 the church opened a Worship Center with seating for approximately 2,500 people, along with a gym, bookstore, café and spaces for meetings, conferences, classes, camps and other programs.

Fallbrook continued expanding in December 2013 with an 82,000-square-foot Children and Youth Building containing 30 classrooms, 24 offices, a gym, full-service kitchen, concession area and indoor play space. 

The church reports serving more than 10,000 members and also houses a K-12 charter school, daycare and before-and-after-school programming at its north Houston campus.

Worship, Education and Family Programming Under One Roof

Fallbrook Church describes its worship style as a mix of contemporary, traditional and urban Gospel, while its broader ministries include programming for children, students, young adults, men, women, couples and families.

For younger families, the church operates Brook Kids, with age-specific programming for children, along with youth and student ministries. Fallbrook also offers small groups, prayer ministries, Bible studies, volunteer opportunities and community assistance.

Those programs help explain why the proposed Cypress-Katy facility includes both a worship area and dedicated education space rather than functioning solely as a traditional sanctuary.

A permanent Cypress location could allow programs that currently depend on rented school space to operate with greater scheduling flexibility and potentially expand as the congregation grows.

Why the Fallbrook Church Project Matters for Cypress and Katy

For residents following new development in Cypress, particularly along House Hahl Road and throughout the Bridgeland-area growth corridor, the Fallbrook Church project adds another large community-focused institution to an area already experiencing substantial residential, commercial and educational expansion.

Church campuses often serve functions well beyond weekly worship, particularly when they include classrooms, gathering areas and youth facilities. Fallbrook's existing north Houston campus has been developed around that broader model, combining worship space with education, recreation and community programs.

The planned Cypress-Katy campus appears positioned to follow a similar approach, beginning with nearly 67,000 square feet while preserving unfinished second-floor space for future development.

For the congregation itself, however, the change may be most noticeable on an ordinary Sunday morning. Instead of unloading equipment, signs and ministry materials into a borrowed school building, members would eventually have a Cypress-Katy campus designed specifically for their church community.

What Happens Next

Construction is currently scheduled to start in January 2027 and continue into June 2028. Construction filings typically represent planned projects and timelines can change before or during development.

In the meantime, Fallbrook Church's Cypress-Katy congregation is scheduled to continue worshipping at Anthony Middle School, 10215 Greenhouse Road in Cypress, with Sunday services at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Fallbrook's own August 2026 campus update says the congregation expects to remain there until its permanent facility is ready. 

If the House Hahl Road project proceeds on its current schedule, the church that began its Cypress-Katy chapter inside a middle school in 2023 could be worshipping in a permanent campus roughly five years later.
