Expose Excellence Youth Program Foundation Awards $24,000 in Scholarships to Fort Bend County Students
The Expose Excellence Youth Program Foundation in Fort Bend County recently announced that 12 local students were awarded scholarships through the Chakilla and Judge Lewis White College Scholarship. This highly esteemed scholarship, now in its second year, has provided a total of $24,000 to deserving students pursuing post high school education in Fort Bend County.
The scholarship, open to students admitted to any two-year or four-year higher education institution, is based on an application process. Each of the selected students will receive a total of $2,000 towards their tuition for the Fall 2024 and Fall 2025 school semesters.
Fort Bend District Attorney Brian Middleton founded the Expose Excellence Youth Program Foundation. The organization aims to provide targeted support for children between the ages of 10-17 through leadership and development training offered by the Expose Excellence Youth Program (EEYP). Middleton initiated EEYP to foster a safe environment for youth interaction while promoting positive self-expression, life skills, and artistic expression.
Chakilla and Judge Lewis White, major supporters of the foundation, pledged $30,000 to the scholarship fund during both the 2022 and 2023 “Christmas Cheers” fundraisers. Speaking on the initiative, the Whites emphasized that they understand from personal experience how adversities can hinder progress in education. “The 12 students selected for the Chakilla and Judge Lewis White Scholarship are a diverse and comprehensive representation of talented graduates across Fort Bend County. We desire to support a wide range of promising students and promote excellence throughout the county,” they disclosed.
The Whites will host a luncheon on June 7th at the Family Life and Community Resource Center to honor the 2023 and 2024 scholarship recipients.
