Experience Live Music Magic in LSC-CyFair’s Discovery Recital Series This Fall

September 16 2024

This fall, Lone Star College-CyFair (LSC-CyFair) welcomes the community to the Discovery Recital Series, promising a lineup of lively and engaging performances that offer an enriching cultural and world-class music experience. Set against a range of themes, the curated events aim to entertain and educate families through the captivating world of classical, experimental and international music genres.

As Dr. Brian Herrington, Music Department Chair, expresses, “This series includes three free events, each with a specially curated theme that makes for an evening that is both entertaining and enlightening. Come experience the excitement of high-quality live music making right in your own backyard.”

The opening performance takes place on October 8, featuring Duo Dramatique. This dynamic duo comprises violinist Dominika Dancewicz and pianist Andrew Schneider, who will be delivering a captivating rendition of "This Stabbing Shard". The performance, to be held in the Recital Hall, intertwines the world of music and poetry, journeying from a time of oppression to hope.

The second recital, scheduled for October 21, will showcase the enchanting artistry of LSC-CyFair’s own operatic vocal faculty, with Soprano Yung-Wei Sun gracing the Main Stage Theatre.

The Recital Series concludes on a high note on November 1 with the return of the Mud Turtle Quintet to the Main Stage Theatre. The Quintet, featuring guitarist Marc Rosenberg, Zelda Gray and a String Quartet, will present "Around the World", a vibrant program of global music.

All performances will commence at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for the Arts (ART) building at LSC-CyFair, conveniently located at 9191 Barker Cypress Rd, Cypress, TX 77433. Further information on these and other upcoming fall performing arts events can be accessed at LoneStar.edu/cfa.
