EMCID Invites New Caney Residents to Safely Shred Sensitive Documents at Free Community Event May 9
As spring cleaning season continues across East Montgomery County, residents will have an opportunity this weekend to safely dispose of old paperwork while taking an important step toward protecting their personal information.
The East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID) will host its annual “Shred-it EMC 2026” event on Saturday, May 9, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Atrium Center, located at 21575 U.S. Highway 59 in New Caney.
The free community event invites residents to bring unwanted paper documents and sensitive materials for secure on-site shredding. Organizers say the event is designed to help families clear out cluttered filing cabinets, safely dispose of outdated records, and reduce the risk of identity theft and fraud.
With many households accumulating years of tax documents, bank statements, medical records, and other personal paperwork, secure shredding events like this have become increasingly important for residents looking to protect private information while responsibly decluttering their homes.
The annual EMCID shredding event has also become a community tradition for many East Montgomery County residents, offering a simple but practical service that benefits homeowners, families, and local neighborhoods alike.
The event will take place at The Atrium Center in New Caney and is open to the community free of charge.
Residents planning to participate are encouraged to arrive during the event window between 8 a.m. and noon.
