Elgin Public Library Brings Learning, Creativity and Community Together With Full Lineup of May Events
As summer approaches in Elgin, the Elgin Public Library is continuing to serve as far more than a place to check out books. Over the coming weeks, the library’s calendar is packed with opportunities for local families, seniors, students, parents and lifelong learners to connect, create and learn together right in the heart of downtown Elgin.
Whether residents are looking for a relaxing afternoon movie, a supportive wellness group, a new hobby or activities to keep kids engaged, the library’s upcoming programs reflect the growing role public libraries play as community gathering spaces and educational hubs.

For residents looking to unwind and meet neighbors, recurring programs like Senior Games every Wednesday, Fiber Arts and Friends every Thursday, and Conversational Spanish on the first and third Saturdays each month continue to create welcoming spaces for friendship and creativity.

Libraries for Health Initiative Expands Mental Health Support

Creation Station Continues Growing Maker Opportunities
EPL’s popular Creation Station maker space is also offering additional hands-on training opportunities this month and into June.
Residents can register for sewing, embroidery, forge and sublimation training sessions, giving community members access to creative tools and practical skills that may otherwise be difficult to access locally.
A featured upcoming workshop, the Sublimation Class: Wild Flower T-Shirts, will take place May 20 at 5:30 p.m. Participants must complete sublimation training beforehand and bring a light-colored T-shirt.
More information about Creation Station classes and reservations can be found at the City of Elgin website.
A Growing Community Hub in Elgin

For many local families, it has become a reliable place to stay connected, meet neighbors and discover new interests without the cost barriers often associated with enrichment programs.
