Dig World in Katy to Host Special Needs Family Night for Inclusive, Unique Sensory Experience
Monday, July 8 will be a very special day at Dig World in Katy. From 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, they will be hosting their Special Needs Family Night. Families with special needs members are invited to experience all that Dig World has to offer absolutely free, thanks to the generous sponsorship of this event. All park activities will be fully operational and open to attendees.
This family-friendly event is close to the hearts of the founders of Dig World, Jacob and Melissa Robinson. Their son, Pierce, was an active, healthy child until he contracted bacterial meningitis in 2017 which resulted in significant brain damage. Despite his physical and cognitive disabilities, Pierce remains a vibrant and joyful presence. His love for construction and all things outdoors was what inspired the creation of Dig World.
The park, which opened in mid-March of 2022, offers an experience unlike anything else. It is a safe space for children to operate heavy equipment construction tools, fostering sensory learning while creating lasting memories for the family.
Dig World believes that children learn best when they engage their senses – touch, sight, sound, smell, and even taste – to comprehend the world around them and what better way to stimulate these senses than by immersing them in the fascinating world of construction equipment. From tactile stimulation to visual exploration, auditory engagement, olfactory sensations and kinesthetic learning, the world of construction offers an array of sensory experiences.
Located at Katy Mills Mall, at the intersection of Katy Mills Blvd and I-10 in Katy, Dig World is an outdoor park with the entrance adjacent to Bass Pro Shops. To attend the Special Needs Family Night, reservations can be made at digworldtx.com.
