Cypress Assistance Ministries Steps Up to Support Community in Wake of Hurricane Beryl
In the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, a local non-profit, Cypress Assistance Ministries (CAM), is stepping up to aid their community and ease the burden on those most affected. Not a stranger to crises or service, CAM, founded in 1990, has a proud history of reaching out to those grappling with hardship and providing support in various tangible ways.
Support for Affected Residents
As part of its response to Hurricane Beryl, CAM is offering walk-in help for those in need of vital supplies such as food and water, with service hours running from 10 AM to 1 PM, Monday through Friday. Their doors are open to those from any zip code, as long as they bring a valid photo ID. CAM is also offering rental assistance and utility assistance.
While the CAM offices remained untouched by the hurricane, their focus is firmly on their neighbours who are dealing with the devastation left in Beryl's wake. They are working tirelessly to distribute food and water to the affected, ensuring that no one caught in this disaster goes hungry or thirsty.
How You Can Help
Moreover, CAM is turning to the Cypress community to extend a hand in this time of need. They are currently accepting food donations to support their mission. The list of non-perishable food items they are in need of includes cereal, canned ravioli or Spaghetti-O's, canned fruit or fruit cups, Spam, Vienna Sausage, tuna packages, snack items like granola bars, crackers, chips, bottled water, and juices. They ask that any donated canned goods are pull-tab for ease of access due to power outages.
Donations can be dropped off at the CAM Food Pantry located at 12930 Cypress N Houston Rd, Cypress, TX 77429. Operating hours for donations are from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Saturday.
Additionally, CAM invites locals to help distribute food and water to those affected by Hurricane Beryl through Friday from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM, at 12930 Cypress N Houston Rd, Cypress, TX 77429. Volunteers, aged 14 and up, will assist with loading food into vehicles and should be prepared for some heavy lifting. Partially outdoor work, with air conditioning inside and water provided. Closed-toe shoes are required, and no orientation is needed. Contact volunteer@cypressassistance.org with the subject "Emergency Food Distribution Volunteer" for more information.
CAM remains a beacon of hope and assistance in the Cypress community, offering services like food assistance, rental assistance, and utility assistance, not just in the wake of Beryl, but year-round. They encourage anyone in need or anyone looking to volunteer or donate to reach out via their website at cypressassistance.org or by contacting them directly at info@cypressassistance.org.
