Cy-Ranch, Cy-Springs Advance to Region II-6A Girls' Basketball TournamentÂ
The Cypress Ranch High School and Cypress Springs High School girls’ basketball teams advanced past the region quarterfinal round of the UIL Class 6A playoffs to advance to the Region II-6A tournament in Lufkin, while Langham Creek High School concluded its season as region quarterfinalist.
Cypress Springs defeated Langham Creek, 55-50, to advance in the postseason. The region tournament berth is the first in program history.
Cypress Ranch defeated Tomball Memorial, 56-43, to advance to the regional tournament for the first time since 2017 when the program won the Region III-6A title and finished as the Class 6A runner-up.
The Panthers will meet DeSoto in the first Region II tournament semifinal at 5:30 p.m. The Mustangs will face Cedar Hill in the second semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Both games will be held at the Lufkin Multipurpose Facility (309 S. Medford Drive).
Both semifinal winners will meet at 1 p.m. on Feb. 25 in the championship game. The regional champion earns a berth to the UIL Basketball State Championships, to be held March 2-4 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Tickets for the Region II tournament are $10 each for adults and $5 each for students and will be sold at the door with card or cash.
