Cy-Fair Women's Club: Supporting Cy-Fair Through Joyful Service
May 02 2023
The Cy-Fair Women's Club has a long history of support for the Cy-Fair community through various initiatives. Each fall, the "Pink Ladies" host their annual Shop 'til You Drop event at the Berry Center, which raises funds for scholarships to be awarded to Cypress-Fairbanks ISD graduating seniors. But their outreach goes far beyond fundraising for local students.
Over the last few months, the Cy-Fair Women's Club (CWC) has been hard at work as boots on the ground in our community, making a difference by lending a helping hand to people and organizations across the region. Here's a recap of how they have served recently:
February
Breast Cancer Pillows
The CWC delivered 100 cancer pillows to HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress, Cancer Unit. This is a long time service project of the Cy-Fair Women's Club, which began years ago when one of our past president's was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. The pillows have been delivered to multiple hospitals over the years and help relieve pressure from drains after procedures. The pillows have also been used as comfort for nursing home patients and have helped heart patients, too.
Pup Squad
During the month of February, the Pink Ladies collected items to help care for the rescues at the Pup Squad. CWC also makes braided chew toys which are made from fleece and old T-shirts. Volunteers delivered the supplies collected, the toys, and dog food to the Pup Squad.
March
Macaroni & Cheese for Cy-Fair Helping Hands
For more than four years, the Cy-Fair Women's Club has collected Macaroni and Cheese each month for Cy-Fair Helping Hands. Approximately 300 boxes are collected each month.
Adopt-A-Cause: Shield Bearer
During February and March, CWC's Adopt-A-Cause committee worked hard vetting nonprofit requests, narrowing down submittals to three organizations for presentation to the members. In April, members voted and selected Shield Bearer as the Adopt-A-Cause recipient. Adopt-A-Cause is one of the ways CWC provides financial support to a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization for a specific project. The recipient receives approximately $10,000.
April
Cypress Assistance Ministries Food Pantry
The Pink Ladies volunteered at the CAM Food Pantry where volunteers made food bags for the elderly to be delivered during the week and Easter boxes. They also restocked the shelves several times.
Relay for Life Waller/Cy-Fair
This is the second year the Pink Ladies have participated in the event, and there are several survivors in Cy-Fair Women's Club. Members enjoy celebrating their survival and continue to fight to stay cancer free. CWC members raise funds for this event.
Reach Unlimited Golf
For the last three years, CWC has volunteered for the Reach Unlimited Golf event. CWC assists Reach Unlimited's annual fundraiser by volunteering for a variety of duties to include registration, mulligans, raffles, and putting green.
Lone Star College Cy-Fair 2023 Scholarship Reception
Since 2005, the Cy-Fair Women's Club has had an endowment with the Lone Star College Cy-Fair. Each year, a student receives a scholarship from the endowment. Congratulations to the 2023 recipient, Shalith M. Parker.

About Cy-Fair Women's Club
Cy-Fair Women’s Club (CWC) is a 501(c)3 organization serving the greater Cy-Fair community in northwest Harris County in Houston, Texas. Begun in 1982 as the Copperfield Women’s Club, their mission to serve the needs of the community remain as strong as the day they first came together. Their hard-working, determined members are dedicated to fundraising and community volunteering. The popular market event Shop ‘til You Drop (STYD) is their primary fundraiser held annually on the second Saturday in September. The funds raised through the shopping event, concession stand volunteering, sponsorship, membership dues and donations have allowed CWC to annually provide over $22,000 in high school scholarships and over $40,000 to local charities. “Bringing women together to better our community!” is why CWC exists and how they continue to grow.
