Cy-Fair ISD Names New Principal for Bridgeland High School
Richard Dixon, principal at Goodson Middle School, was named the principal at Bridgeland High School on Nov. 8. Dixon replaces Mike Smith, who will retire in December.
Dixon has 24 years of experience in education, all in CFISD. He began his career as a social studies teacher at Dean Middle School, where he taught for three years before moving to Cypress Ridge High School to teach U.S. History for a year. He became an assistant principal at Cypress Ridge in 2004, serving in that role for eight years. In 2012 Dixon was named director of instruction at Cypress Ridge. He then was named associate principal at Cypress Ridge in 2014. Dixon was named to his current position as principal at Goodson in 2018.

Dixon earned his Bachelor of Arts from State University of New York at Buffalo and his Master of Education from the University of Houston.
“I’m truly honored to join Bridgeland High School as their next principal,” Dixon said. “There is a culture of excellence and I cannot wait to continue that legacy. I’m excited to get to know the Bears staff, students and community and work alongside them to achieve greatness.”
