Cy-Fair ISD Board Approves 2025-2026 Academic Calendar
The Cy-Fair Independent School District (CFISD) Board of Trustees has officially approved the CFISD 2025-2026 calendar, marking an important step in planning for the upcoming academic year. The decision was made during the Board’s regularly scheduled meeting on Nov. 11, 2024, following recommendations from the Districtwide Educational Improvement Council (DEIC).
Thanks to CFISD's status as a District of Innovation, the district has been granted flexibility in its school calendar. This exemption allows CFISD to bypass the state law mandating that school start no earlier than the fourth Monday in August, offering a more adaptable schedule that benefits both students and staff.

The approved CFISD school calendar meets all state requirements, including a minimum of 75,600 minutes of instructional time, a 187-day teacher contract, and built-in inclement weather days. It also reflects feedback gathered from the community. The DEIC, which includes teachers, parents, business partners, community members, and non-teaching professionals, worked diligently over the course of several meetings in September and October to develop a calendar that prioritizes student needs while also supporting teacher retention and recruitment efforts.
(Click to enlarge)The DEIC considered 12 different calendar options before narrowing the choices down to two for community input. A total of 16,144 surveys were completed to help finalize the decision, ensuring the calendar best reflects the desires of the CFISD community.
Key dates in the CFISD 2025-2026 calendar include:
- First day of school: Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025
- Labor Day: Monday, Sept. 1, 2025 (student/staff holiday)
- October holidays: Oct. 13-14, 2025 (student/staff holiday)
- Thanksgiving break: Nov. 24-28, 2025
- Winter break: Dec. 19, 2025 – Jan. 2, 2026
- Spring break: March 9-13, 2026
- Good Friday: April 3, 2026 (student/staff holiday)
- Memorial Day: May 25, 2026 (student/staff holiday)
- Last day of school: May 28, 2026 (for students)
The CFISD school calendar also includes three teacher workdays that are student holidays: Oct. 10, 2025; Nov. 4, 2025; and Feb. 16, 2026. Additionally, Oct. 10, 2025, and Feb. 16, 2026, are designated as inclement weather makeup days.
