Cy-Fair Fire Department Hosts Holiday Toy Drive to Support Cy-Fair Helping Hands
The Cy-Fair Fire Department is spreading holiday cheer by hosting a toy drive to benefit Cy-Fair Helping Hands, a local nonprofit organization that provides essential services to families in need. Residents are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys at any of the fire department’s stations or at the administrative building. The collection will run through December 8 or 9, depending on the station, with all toys going directly to Cy-Fair Helping Hands to support their holiday programs.
Leah Gowin, Director of Marketing and Community Outreach at the Cy-Fair Fire Department, shared the motivation behind this year’s toy drive. “Cy-Fair Fire Department selected Cy-Fair Helping Hands as the beneficiary for this year’s toy drive because of their unwavering dedication to supporting local families in need,” Gowin said. “As a community-focused organization, Cy-Fair Helping Hands provides essential services and resources to individuals and families facing challenging circumstances. By partnering with them, we can help bring joy to children in our area, making the holiday season a bit brighter for those who may be struggling.”
Cy-Fair Helping Hands (CFHH) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was founded with the mission of helping homeless individuals in the northwest Houston area. The organization began with the efforts of Jean and John Dreyer, who, in the early 2000s, served soup to the homeless from the back of a pickup truck. Over the years, CFHH has grown into a robust resource for the community, offering programs such as a community food pantry, emergency shelter for families, homeless outreach services, and scholarships for underprivileged students.

The holiday season is a particularly important time for CFHH, as they work to provide gifts, food, and essentials for families in need. This toy drive is part of their larger holiday outreach efforts, which help make the season brighter for children who might otherwise go without.
Leah Gowin explained further why the Cy-Fair Fire Department felt it was important to support this cause. “This collaboration aligns with our commitment to serving the Cy-Fair community, not only in times of emergency but also by fostering warmth, kindness, and a spirit of giving,” Gowin said. “We hope this toy drive will inspire others to give back during the holiday season and support those who are less fortunate.”
Toys can be dropped off at any Cy-Fair Fire Department station or the administrative building through the collection period.
