CURE-Ageous 5K Returns to Cross Creek West Oct. 18 to Raise Funds, Awareness for Inflammatory Breast Cancer
The Cross Creek West community will once again lace up their sneakers for a meaningful morning of movement and support during the second annual CURE-Ageous 5K Fun Run, set for Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, from 8 to 11 a.m.
Hosted within the master-planned community of Cross Creek West, this family-friendly event welcomes runners, walkers, and even leashed dogs to hit the pavement in honor of those impacted by Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) — a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer that often goes undiagnosed.
The event benefits The IBC Network Foundation, a national nonprofit based in Texas that is committed to increasing awareness and funding research specifically for IBC.
“We are grateful for any chance to educate people about IBC and potentially save a life,” said Terry Arnold, founder of The IBC Network and herself a survivor. “This type of cancer is difficult to diagnose and is very aggressive. We had great success spreading the word during last year’s CURE-Ageous 5K and even connected with someone in the community who has the disease. It was wonderful to let her know she’s not alone in this.”

More than 400 participants joined last year’s inaugural event, helping raise $15,000 for The IBC Network Foundation. Organizers are hopeful the 2025 turnout will be even greater.
“We were thrilled with last year’s participation and hope the event has gained momentum in its second year,” said Lauren Smith, Marketing Director for Cross Creek West. “We invite people to wear pink, push a stroller if they would like and even bring along their well-behaved dogs on leashes who would like to walk or run with their owners. The vibe is very laid back because the event isn’t timed, so there’s no pressure to race against a clock.”
Participants can begin arriving at 31427 Cross Creek West Boulevard in Fulshear at 7:15 a.m. to check in or register onsite. The race officially begins at 8 a.m., with online registration currently available at runsignup.com.
The event doesn’t stop at the finish line — a post-race party will include local vendors, yard games, food trucks, face painting, and fun for all ages. Sponsors for this year’s event include Hanis & Proft Orthodontics, Earthcare Management, Newmark Homes, Perry Homes, burn boot camp, ABHR, Blue Sky Marketing, Ethoscapes, and META Planning and Design.
