Copperfield Families Invited to Lowery Elementary’s Friday Fiesta Back-to-School Cookout

Copperfield  /   West Houston / Cypress
August 21 2026

For families settling back into school-year routines, Friday night offers a chance to trade backpacks and schedules for tacos, playground time and conversation with other Lowery Elementary parents.

Lowery Elementary’s Friday Fiesta, a welcome-back-to-school cookout hosted by the Lowery Dads, is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the park next to Lowery Elementary. The gathering is open to families with students enrolled at the school, with food available on a first-come, first-served basis.

For Copperfield families, the event is less about adding one more thing to the calendar and more about creating an easy way to get acquainted at the beginning of a new school year.

Friday Fiesta Brings Lowery Families Together

The evening will include street tacos, family-friendly games and outdoor activities, along with plenty of room for children to spend some time on the playground.

Lowery Elementary PTO encouraged families to come out, meet other parents and students, and give children a chance to burn off some energy after the school day.

That casual atmosphere is part of the idea behind Friday Fiesta. The event gives longtime Lowery families a chance to reconnect while offering families who may be newer to the school a comfortable setting to meet people outside the classroom, pickup line or school office.

Parents Can Meet the Lowery Dads and Find Ways to Volunteer

Friday Fiesta will also introduce families to the Lowery Dads Club, which is hosting the cookout.

In addition to games and dinner, organizers plan to have information available for fathers and other family members interested in getting involved with the group. Volunteer sign-ups will also be available for upcoming school activities.

That can be particularly helpful early in the year, when parents are often looking for ways to become more connected to their child's campus but may not yet know where to start.

For residents of Copperfield, school gatherings like Friday Fiesta can also serve a broader purpose: helping build the relationships among parents, volunteers and students that often become part of a neighborhood's sense of community.
