Copper Grove Blood Drive Ties American Heart Month to Life-Saving Impact on February 28
As American Heart Month shines a spotlight on cardiovascular health, Copper Grove residents have a meaningful opportunity to make a direct, life-saving impact close to home. On Saturday, February 28, 2026, the Copper Grove community will host a neighborhood blood drive focused on supporting patients whose lives depend on timely blood transfusions—especially those undergoing major heart procedures.
Heart care and blood donation are closely connected. Each year in the United States, more than 900,000 cardiac surgeries are performed, and nearly half require blood transfusions either during or after surgery. Open-heart procedures alone can use an average of 28 units of blood per patient, underscoring just how critical a steady blood supply is to keeping hearts beating strong. Donations collected during February help ensure hospitals are prepared when patients need them most.

The Copper Grove Blood Drive will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. aboard a Gulf Coast Blood donor bus located in the tennis court parking lot. Community leaders are aiming to sign up at least 25 donors ahead of the event, reinforcing the idea that when neighbors show up together, every drop truly counts. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome, making it easy for residents to participate even with busy schedules.
As a thank-you, all successful donors will receive a free quarter-zip pullover, part of Gulf Coast Blood’s February promotion celebrating lifesaving generosity. Donors will also receive a valuable health benefit: a free A1C pre-diabetes screening, offering insight into overall wellness while helping others at the same time. It’s a reminder that giving back can also support personal health awareness.
