Comal County Wants Your Input on Future Road Improvements: Four Community Open Houses Still Ahead This Summer

June 19 2026

As neighborhoods expand and traffic volumes continue to increase across Comal County, local leaders are asking residents to help determine which transportation improvements should rise to the top of the priority list.

Comal County's summer Community Open House Series is giving residents an opportunity to weigh in on future road projects that could affect daily commutes, neighborhood safety, drainage concerns, and transportation mobility for years to come. While the first meeting has already taken place, four additional open houses remain scheduled across the county through early July.

The county is currently evaluating potential improvements to intersections, roadways, drainage infrastructure, railroad crossings, and other transportation-related needs as population growth continues throughout New Braunfels, Canyon Lake, Bulverde, Garden Ridge, and surrounding communities.

Rather than presenting finalized plans, county officials are seeking public feedback before decisions are made.

Why Resident Input Matters

For many residents, transportation challenges are part of everyday life. Whether it's increased traffic during peak travel times, concerns about roadway safety, flooding issues during heavy rain events, or congestion near growing neighborhoods, the county says community feedback will help guide future planning efforts.

During each open house, attendees will be able to review potential project maps, learn more about transportation needs identified across the county, and share their priorities, concerns, and questions directly with county representatives.

The meetings are designed as informal, come-and-go events rather than traditional public hearings.

That means residents can stop by at any time during the scheduled hours, explore the information at their own pace, and speak one-on-one with staff members about issues affecting their area.

County officials note that the same information will be available at every location, allowing residents to attend whichever meeting is most convenient.

Planning for Growth Before It Becomes a Problem

Transportation planning often happens years before construction begins, making community input especially valuable during the early stages of project development.

As Comal County remains one of the fastest-growing areas in Texas, decisions made today can influence future traffic flow, emergency response access, flood mitigation efforts, and overall quality of life for residents across the region.

By gathering feedback now, county leaders hope to better understand where residents see the greatest needs and which projects would provide the most benefit to their communities.

Can't Attend? Information Will Be Available Online

Residents who are unable to attend an open house in person can still review project information through the Comal County Engineer's Office website at ComalCounty.gov/191/Engineers-Office

Questions can also be directed to Robert Boyd, P.E., at 830-608-2090 or by email at rboyd@co.comal.tx.us

What Happens Next?

Feedback collected during the open house series will help Comal County evaluate and prioritize future transportation projects aimed at improving roadway safety, mobility, drainage infrastructure, and railroad crossings throughout the county.

For residents who regularly navigate busy intersections, experience flooding concerns, or simply want a voice in how Comal County grows, these meetings offer a chance to help shape the future of local transportation before plans move forward.
