City of Katy Fire Department Responds to 370 Calls in January 2025

February 05 2025

The City of Katy Fire Department (KFD) responded to 370 emergency calls in January 2025, including 127 fire-related incidents and 243 emergency medical service (EMS) calls. These calls ranged from residential fires and vehicle accidents to medical emergencies requiring immediate attention.

At all hours of the day, firefighters and paramedics stationed across the city respond to calls that can change lives in an instant. In one instance, KFD responded to a car fire at a commercial business on Pederson Road, where the vehicle was located in close proximity to other cars and the building. Additionally, KFD crews trained in performing emergency surgical airways. This advanced technique equips paramedics with the ability to administer life-saving interventions in the field during critical emergencies when standard procedures are insufficient.

Fire Department Operations and Community Programs

The City of Katy Fire Department operates three stations across the city, staffed by firefighters, paramedics, and emergency personnel trained to respond to fires, medical emergencies, and hazardous situations. Beyond emergency response, the department focuses on public safety education and prevention programs designed to reduce risks and enhance preparedness among residents.

Programs include:

  • Fire Safety Education – Firefighters visit schools and community centers to provide instruction on fire prevention and escape planning.

  • CPR & First Aid Training – Public sessions teach lifesaving techniques that can assist in medical emergencies before first responders arrive.

  • Child Safety Seat Inspections – Certified personnel assist caregivers in ensuring child car seats are properly installed.

  • Community Events – The department participates in local events, providing opportunities for residents to meet firefighters, explore fire trucks, and learn about emergency preparedness.

More details about KFD programs and events are available on the City of Katy Fire Department website.
