CFISD Student of the Week: Sofia Rendon

Black Elementary School fifth grade student Sofia Rendon is known around school for her kindness and willingness to always help.

School: Black Elementary School   |   Age: 10   |   Grade: 5

Accomplishments: Rendon’s teachers credit her for always being sweet and kind to others. Rendon recently wrote a note to a fellow classmate that was having a difficult time in class, encouraging him not to be embarrassed and that if she was having a difficult time, she would feel frustrated, too. Rendon is always trying to assist her classmates in any way she can.

Favorite class: “My favorite class is reading. Reading has always been easy for me and is the most fun.”

Favorite things to do after class: “My favorite things to do after school are play with my sister and play Roblox.”

Favorite song: Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush.”

Favorite website/app: Roblox, because I can play with friends.”

Favorite TV show: Bluey, because in each episode there is a life lesson.”

Favorite movie: Up, because it is cute.”

Ambition: “I like to earn all A’s and would like to make it further than district in the Name That Book competition this year.”

What topics/things are you passionate about?: “I do not like when people are mean and not kind to others. It makes me upset because you never know what people are going through.”

What inspires you?: “My dad inspires me because he is always telling me that it will be okay and to learn from my mistakes.”

What three things can’t you live without?: “I cannot live without my family, friends and TV.”

What are you most looking forward to this semester?: “I’m really excited to be a fifth grader and I’m really excited about all the field trips and other fun things fifth graders get to do.”
