CFISD Student of the Week: Jackson Nichols

Bridgeland High School senior Jackson Nichols is praised by his teachers for being an accomplished and outstanding student. 

School: Bridgeland High School  |  Age: 18  |  Grade: 12

Accomplishments: Nichols is in the top 3% of his senior class and currently serves as the secretary of National Honor Society and vice president of Spanish National Honor Society. Nichols holds many theatre accomplishments, including being nationally recognized in the International Thespian Society, earned Best Supporting Actor at the Texas Thespian Festival, earned third place in the Texas Thespian Festival essay contest, scored a perfect score on the REI, a main stage callback and is a recipient of the Texas Thespian Scholarship. He is also the events coordinator for the Bridgeland Theatre Company. In addition, Nichols founded a new cub, Bridgeland Progressive Society and works as a legal assistant for an immigration lawyer.

Favorite class: “AP Art History is very interesting. There are so many insights about how buildings today are impacting by the art of the past. For example, the exposed columns of the White House come from Greek architecture. So understanding the culture of the past and its connection to pop culture is really interesting.”

Favorite song: Anything by The Backseat Lovers.”

Favorite TV show: “I love watching The Walking Dead, Schitt’s Creek and The Good Place.”

Favorite movie: Interstellar with Matthew McConaughey.”

Ambition: “My ambition is to become a criminal defense attorney and eventually a politician. I would love to end up in the cabinet one day. I believe all people should have a fair and equal chance in life and equity, more than equality, is my goal.”

What topics/things are you passionate about?: “Equality, politics, theatre, art and music,”

What inspires you?: “My grandmother inspires me. Fredrika Nichols, through kindness and compassion, made me the person I am today. I want to be that to others. She always had open arms for everyone and I wish to continue that.”

What three things can’t you live without?: “Music, my friends and theatre.”

What are you most looking forward to this semester?: “I’m looking forward to the UIL One-Act Play season!”
