CFISD Names New Principal for Owens Elementary School
César Díaz, principal at Bane Elementary School, was named the principal at Owens Elementary School on Feb. 29. Díaz replaces Dr. Amy Frank, who was named the inaugural principal for CFISD’s 59th elementary school.
Díaz is in his 20th year in education, nine of which have been in CFISD. His career began as a teacher at Southwest Schools. He later moved into administration as an assistant principal and principal at Southwest Schools and assistant principal in Aldine ISD.
In 2015 Díaz came to CFISD as an assistant principal at Bane and served as a summer school principal at Horne Elementary School in 2016. He later served as a summer school principal at Duryea Elementary School in 2017.

He served as principal at Reed Elementary School from 2017-2020, where he earned a Superintendent Incremental Award at the Silver Level in 2019. Díaz was named to his current role as principal at Bane in 2020.
Díaz earned his Bachelor in Information Systems Engineering from the Universidad Rafael Belloso Chacín in Maracaibo, Venezuela and Master of Education Administration from Prairie View A&M University.
“I’m super excited and honored to serve the Owens Elementary community as their new principal,” Díaz said. “I’m looking forward to building strong and long-lasting relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community.”
