CFISD Names Lamkin Elementary School Second Grader as Student of the Week
Seven-year-old Alenny Zafra, a second grader at Lamkin Elementary School, lights up every room she enters with her hard work, creativity, and love for learning. This week, she’s being recognized as CFISD’s Student of the Week, a well-deserved honor for a young girl who already understands the value of determination and family support.
Alenny’s teachers praise her dedication, noting that she gives her best effort in everything she does, both in and out of the classroom. Her hard work paid off in January when she was named Lamkin’s Student of the Month. Whether completing assignments or helping at home, Alenny approaches her tasks with enthusiasm and focus.
“My favorite class is writing because I get to write fun things,” Alenny shared with a smile, showing her love for creative expression. But school isn’t the only place where she thrives—at home, she enjoys unwinding by coloring with pens and markers, relishing the peaceful moments she finds in her artistic hobbies.

Music and family play a major role in Alenny’s life. One of her favorite pastimes is singing and dancing with her mother while they clean the house together. She enjoys using Snapchat, laughing at the fun filters that bring her joy.
When it comes to movies, Finding Dory is her top choice. “It is about fish finding and discovering new stuff. I like discovering new stuff too,” she said excitedly, reflecting her natural curiosity and adventurous spirit.
Beyond her daily activities, Alenny dreams of becoming a salesperson when she grows up, already thinking about the importance of financial responsibility. She also has a strong passion for decorating, especially during Christmas. This past holiday season, she had a special moment when her father lifted her up so she could place the star on their family’s Christmas tree.

“I like to decorate for Christmas. This year my dad lifted me up and I got to put the star on our Christmas tree,” she recalled. It’s no surprise that Alenny’s biggest inspiration is her father, whom she admires for his strong work ethic and ability to fix just about anything, from cars to tractors.
Family means everything to Alenny, and she couldn’t imagine life without her five siblings or her mother’s delicious cooking—especially her favorite meals, pasta and chicken tacos. It’s the love and warmth of her family that keeps her motivated and striving to be her best.
