CFISD First Day of School Is August 12: Why Villages of Cypress Lakes Families Should Start School Supply Shopping Now

CFISD First Day of School Is August 12: Why Villages of Cypress Lakes Families Should Start School Supply Shopping Now

July 09 2026

For Cypress-Fairbanks ISD families in Villages of Cypress Lakes, the first day of school is beginning to feel much closer.

CFISD students will return to classrooms on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, making the weeks ahead an important window for parents and guardians to review school supply lists, purchase required materials and prepare children for the transition back to their school-year routines.

Shopping early can offer families a wider selection of notebooks, folders, backpacks and other classroom essentials before popular colors, sizes and brands become harder to find. Families may purchase supplies from the retailer of their choice, while many elementary and middle schools also offer pre-packaged supply packs through their campus.

Those school supply packs can provide more than convenience. Orders are frequently connected to school fundraisers, allowing families to purchase grade-level materials while supporting their child’s booster club, PTA or other campus organization.

CFISD Elementary School Supply Lists and Pre-Packaged Kits

Elementary school supply lists are posted by CFISD as they become available. Because requirements can differ by campus and grade level, families should review the list specifically provided by their child’s school before making purchases.

Parents are encouraged to consider ordering pre-packaged supply packs directly through their elementary campus. The packs are assembled to match each grade level’s requirements, reducing the need to search several stores for individual items.

At many schools, ordered supplies may be delivered to the campus before the first day and available during Meet the Teacher events. This can make the beginning of the school year a little easier for families who are already balancing orientation dates, transportation plans, extracurricular schedules and other back-to-school responsibilities.

Parents who need help locating a list, ordering a pack or confirming campus requirements should contact their elementary school’s front office.

What CFISD Middle School Families Should Know

CFISD middle school supply lists are also posted as they become available, and families may purchase supplies at their preferred retailer.

Like elementary schools, middle school campuses may offer pre-packaged supply kits designed around grade-level requirements. These purchases are often part of campus fundraising efforts, giving parents an opportunity to support the school community while completing an important back-to-school task.

Supply packs may also be delivered in advance and distributed during Meet the Teacher activities.

Middle school families should keep in mind that additional materials may be required once students receive their individual schedules. Electives, advanced classes and specialized programs may have needs that are not included on a general grade-level list.

Teachers will provide information about course-specific materials during the first week of school. Families with questions before then may contact their school’s front office for guidance.

High School Students Can Begin With the Basics

CFISD high schools do not publish general school supply lists because students’ needs vary significantly based on their courses, teachers, electives, advanced classes and specialized programs.

High school students should plan to bring a few basic materials on the first day of school, including a notebook, a binder with loose-leaf paper, pens and pencils.

Teachers will explain any additional requirements during the first week of class. Waiting for those instructions can help families avoid purchasing materials that a student may not ultimately need.

Questions about high school supplies, schedules or campus-specific expectations can be directed to the school’s front office.

Where to Find CFISD School Supply Lists

Elementary and middle school supply lists are posted in the school supplies section of the CFISD Back-to-School Guide as they become available.

Families should continue checking the district’s school supply webpage and their individual campus communications for updated lists, ordering deadlines, Meet the Teacher information and instructions for picking up pre-packaged supplies.

Starting early also gives parents time to compare the cost of campus supply packs with purchasing items individually. For some households, the convenience and fundraising benefit of a pre-packaged kit may make it the preferred option. Others may choose to shop sales at several retailers or reuse eligible supplies from the previous school year.

Kroger Backpack Boosters Helps Students Start the Year Prepared

Families in Villages of Cypress Lakes who would also like to help another student begin the school year with the right materials can participate in Kroger’s annual Backpack Boosters school supply drive.

School supplies play an important role in a child’s ability to participate in class, complete assignments and begin the year with confidence. However, the cost of backpacks, notebooks, pencils and other essentials can create challenges for families already managing clothing, transportation, meals and other back-to-school expenses.

Through Backpack Boosters, Kroger provides school supply kits filled with essential materials for students who may otherwise begin the year without everything they need. The program’s 2026 goal is to equip more than 40,000 children across Texas and Louisiana for the upcoming school year.

Through August 2, shoppers can support the campaign at area Kroger stores by purchasing a school supply kit for $9.99 or making a donation of $2, $5 or $10 at the register.

For residents already completing their own back-to-school shopping, the campaign offers a simple way to help another family at the same time. Even a small register donation can become part of a larger community effort to make sure more students arrive on the first day ready to learn.

A Little Preparation Can Make August Easier

The beginning of a new school year can bring excitement, nerves and a long list of details for families to manage. Completing school supply shopping while stores are well stocked can remove one task from the final days of summer and give students time to organize their materials before August 12.

Whether families purchase a campus supply pack, shop at a local retailer or donate through Backpack Boosters, each choice contributes to the same goal: helping students enter their classrooms feeling prepared and supported.

For Villages of Cypress Lakes families, a little planning now can make the transition back to school feel smoother when the first day arrives.
